A MAN accused of an armed carjacking on Saunders Beach earlier this month was remanded to prison yesterday.
Prosecutors allege Shadario Defrand, 21, while armed with a handgun, robbed Darrion Symonette of his silver 2008 Nissan Cube, light blue iPhone 13 Pro Max, black iPhone 13, Bahamian passport and Apple AirPods at 3am on May 19.
Defrand was allegedly found with the light blue iPhone later that day.
The stolen vehicle was reportedly recovered on St James Road at 8am on May 20.
Defrand was not required to enter a plea to armed robbery and receiving charges before acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans.
He was informed that his matter would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment and of his right to apply for bail in the higher court.
Defrand was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until service of his voluntary bill of indictment on October 1.
Inspector Deon Barr prosecuted the case.
