A MAN accused of stabbing another man during an altercation on Commonwealth Boulevard last weekend was denied bail.

Prosecutors allege Luke Dorsette, 51, assaulted and injured Angelo Mortimer with a knife during a physical confrontation on October 30. Dorsette pleaded not guilty to charges of causing harm and assault with a dangerous instrument before Magistrate Abigail Farrington.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Kendrick Bauld, the proseuctor, objected to bail, citing the serious nature of the offences and the risk that Dorsette could reoffend if released.

Dorsette maintained that he was a suitable candidate for bail and would comply with any conditions imposed by the court.

However, the magistrate denied him bail and remanded him to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDOCS).

Dorsette returns to court for his trial on March 2, 2027.
