The Ministry of Tourism sought to boost The Bahamas’ competitiveness as a boating, yachting and private aviation destination through a ministerial-led delegation’s attendance at one of Florida’s top boat shows.
Glenys Hanna Martin, minister of tourism, led a Bahamian group that held a series of meetings with industry stakeholders at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in a bid to forge and strengthen partnerships that will position this nation for sustained growth in the boating, yachinhg, charter and private aviation markets.
Their meetings with boating industry executives focused on deepening collaboration, responding to evolving market dynamics and identifying opportunities to support the continued growth and diversification of The Bahamas’ marine tourism sector.
Staged under the theme ‘Beyond the Horizon’, the event celebrated the connections fostered by the global yachting community, highlighting how shared waterways unite destinations, cultures and expertise across international borders. Mrs Hanna Martin delivered the gala’s closing remarks. The evening concluded with a vibrant Junkanoo performance.
Mr Weech said: “The global boating and yachting industry continues to evolve, and destinations that succeed will be those that align their offerings with emerging traveller expectations while investing in access, infrastructure and service excellence.
“The Bahamas is exceptionally positioned to capitalise on growing demand for premium marine experiences, supported by our proximity to key markets, extensive cruising grounds and unparalleled island diversity. Our focus remains on strengthening competitiveness, encouraging greater exploration throughout the archipelago and maximising the economic impact of marine tourism across a broader range of communities.
“Through targeted partnerships and market-driven strategies, we are creating a stronger foundation for sustainable growth within this vital sector.”
