A MAN accused of the attempted armed robbery of two road workers last week was remanded to prison.

Prosecutors allege Danny Jones, 30, aka "Prince Rolle" or "Prince Poitier", attempted to rob Akemo White and Tyson Deveaux of cash with a black firearm as they were doing road work on New Providence Highway around 12pm on October 26.

A struggle ensued between the suspect and a complainant, and the accused was allegedly detained until police arrived.

An imitation firearm was recovered from the scene.

On the same day Jones allegedly attempted to deceive Detective Corporal 4708 Tynes, Police Constable 4596 Bellow and Police Constable 4594 Williams in an effort to evade the law.

Jones was charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery and three counts of deceit of a public officer.

Jones was not required to enter a plea for the charges before acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans.

He was informed that his matter would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI) set for service on February 18, 2027

However, Jones told the court that he was suffering from a head injury that he received on day of the incident.

As such the court asked for his VBI to be processed faster.

Should Jones's VBI be ready earlier he will be summoned before the court then.

Inspector Crestanea Munroe prosecuted the case.
