A ONE-MONTH-OLD baby girl who had twice been treated in hospital and sent home over the weekend died after being brought unresponsive to the Carmichael Road Police Station early yesterday.
According to the initial police report, a woman brought the infant to the station some time after midnight. She told officers the child had developed a high fever and then became unresponsive.
Emergency Medical Services personnel examined the baby at the station and found no signs of life.
Investigators later spoke with the child's mother. She told police her daughter had experienced medical issues before her death, and had been taken to hospital twice over the weekend. On both occasions, she said, the baby received treatment and was discharged.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
