TYHLER Rolle and Amari Jones emerged as the two qualifiers to advance in the Bahamas Golf Federation 's Junior Golf Front 9 Championships over the weekend at the Ocean Club on Paradise Island.
A total of 44 participated in the first of four tournaments the BGF's Junior Division will be hosting this year for golfers to achieve a score of 36 (even par) over nine holes to move onto the next division.
Both players played in division four and have advanced to division. Jones shot 34, while Rolle did 36. A number of players came close, but will have to wait for the next tournament to go after their promotion.
The 14-year-old Jones, who is in the ninth grade at Queen's College, said he was pleased with all of the process that he has made since he started playing two years ago.
"My next goal is to try and make it to the junior national team," he said.
Rolle, a 10-year-old fifth grader at St John's College, said he was thrilled to have scored 36 for 150 yards.
"I look forward to this upcoming golf season and meeting my goal of 200 yards next," said Rolle, who has been playing for a little over three years.
The next qualifying tournament will take place from October 17-18th at the Royal Blue Golf Club at Baha Mar when the BGF is hoping that more golfers will advance.
However, on Sunday, the golfers will compete in the US Kids Season Opener at the Lyford Cay Golf Club.
