A 44-year-old man was accused of threatening to kill another man with a shotgun near Bonefish Pond before police allegedly found him in possession of the weapon.

Joannes Gustave was accused of threatening Arisse Petit-Frere with death while brandishing a black Maverick Mossberg shotgun around 8am on October 4.

Police were alerted after someone reported that an employee was being threatened by an armed man near Bonefish Pond and requested assistance.

Officers met with the complainant, who provided information about the suspect. Officers later located Gustave, who denied the incident occurred.

During a search of the surrounding area, officers found a firearm beside a green structure.

Gustave allegedly told police he had found the weapon on his property about five years earlier and did not know who owned it.

He was arrested and cautioned in connection with the firearm and the initial complaint.

Gustave pleaded not guilty to threats of death, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of a firearm with intent to put another in fear before Magistrate Abigail Farrington.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Kendrick Bauld, who prosecuted the case, did not object to bail.

Gustave was granted $8,000 bail with one or two sureties. He must sign in at Carmichael Road Police Station every Monday and Friday by 7pm, wear an electronic monitoring device and refrain from interfering with witnesses.

He was warned that breaching his bail conditions could result in its revocation.
