TWO men appeared in court accused of stealing $5,055 worth of alcohol from Albany Resort last week, with one pleading guilty to receiving stolen goods and facing a separate charge of assaulting a man with his vehicle.

Marlon Bodie, 62, and Samuel Kemp allegedly stole the alcohol from the resort on Frank Watson Boulevard on October 9. Bodie was reportedly employed at the resort at the time.

Kemp is also accused of assaulting Sebastian Butler with his vehicle at about 2.15pm that day.

Bodie was charged with stealing by reason of employment, while Kemp faced charges of stealing, receiving and assault with a deadly weapon.

Appearing before Senior Magistrate Kendra Kelly Burrows, Kemp pleaded guilty to receiving but denied the remaining charges. Bodie pleaded not guilty to stealing by reason of employment.

Bodie was granted $3,000 bail, while Kemp's bail was set at $4,000, each with one or two sureties.

As part of their bail conditions, Kemp must sign in at the Western Police Station every Thursday, while Bodie must report to the Carmichael Police Station every Monday.

Both men are scheduled to return to court for trial on December 10.

Inspector Deon Barr prosecuted the case.
