A 27-YEAR-OLD Apostolic Way man has been charged with the murder of a father of four who was shot dead on the same street after an argument over a debt.
Troy Trembley appeared before Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans on Friday charged with killing Cedric Roker, 36. He was served with a voluntary bill of indictment and the matter was adjourned to February 4.
Both families were in court. Roker’s relatives appeared emotional during the proceedings, and the magistrate allowed Trembley’s family a brief opportunity to speak with him.
Roker was the father of four children: a 12-year-old, six-year-old twins and a three-year-old.
Police said Roker was leaving Apostolic Way, off Carmichael Road, in a black Honda shortly after 4pm on October 17 when the driver of a white van pulled across his path. The two men argued over a debt Roker was said to owe, and police said Roker produced a sharp object during the confrontation.
Another man allegedly approached and shot Roker before fleeing south along Apostolic Way in a grey vehicle. Roker died at the scene.
