TWO men have been charged with murder over a drive-by shooting in which a 25-year-old man was gunned down as he tried to run from his attackers.

Prosecutors allege that Ashton Dawkins, 24, and Stefano Lightbourne, 28, opened fire from a dark-coloured vehicle on Clauvensly Augustin as he walked on Comfort Street around 11.30pm on August 9.

Mr Augustin ran north on Comfort Street but was shot and collapsed on the west side of the road, near Hay Street. His attackers fled. He was found with gunshot wounds to the body.

Dawkins and Lightbourne appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans and were not required to enter a plea.

They were remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until February 25, 2027, when they are due to be served with a voluntary bill of indictment sending their case to the Supreme Court. They were told they could apply for bail in the higher court.

Inspector Deon Barr prosecuted.
