EY Bahamas has named Avani Sawyer and Claire Bethel as the recipients of its 2026 EY Jamaine McFall Bahamas Scholarship.

Ms Bethel recently completed her high school diploma at St Andrew's International School and will be attending Georgia State University as a freshman, where she plans to pursue a degree in accounting.

"I am beyond grateful to EY Bahamas for awarding me this scholarship and for giving me the incredible opportunity to intern with such an amazing team,” she said. “This experience has greatly encouraged me to embrace new opportunities and grow in ways I never expected. Every day brought something new to learn, and being surrounded by such supportive and inspiring professionals has only strengthened my confidence and excitement for my future."

Ms Sawyer is a 2026 graduate of Queen's College and will attend Howard University this fall, where she will pursue a degree in accounting as she works towards her goal of becoming a certified public accountant.

"Receiving this scholarship from EY is truly an honour. It has given me the confidence and support to pursue my education at my dream school, Howard University, as I work toward my goal of becoming a certified public accountant,” she said. “I will do my very best to uphold the kindness, diligence and hardworking spirit of the late Jamaine McFall, whose legacy continues to inspire students like me. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and look forward to making the most of it."

Valued at $30,000 per year, the scholarship supports outstanding students in pursuing higher education and achieving their career aspirations. In addition to financial assistance, recipients gain experience through an eight-week summer internship and are offered the opportunity for full-time employment with EY upon the successful completion of their university studies.
