A WOMAN was charged with allegedly allowing her ferocious dog to roam at large and maul another animal on Acardia Drive last month.
Prosecutors allege Alecca Ramsey, 46, failed to keep her black-and-white potcake pit bull secured, allowing it to injure a female dog belonging to Kendrick Ramsey on August 17.
Ramsey also allegedly failed to license the same ferocious dog.
She faces charges of failing to take necessary measures to control a dangerous dog, being the owner of a dangerous dog that was out of control and caused injury to another dog in a public place, permitting an animal to be at large, and keeping a dangerous dog without having been issued a dog licence and identification tag.
Ramsey pleaded not guilty to the charges before Magistrate Abigail Farrington. Her bail was set at $5,000 with one or two sureties. She must sign in at the East Street South Police Station on the last Sunday of each month by 7pm.
Ramsey returns to court for mention on September 9.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Kendrick Bauld prosecuted the case.
Alphonso Lewis represented Ramsey.
