A CRUISE visitor was warned and discharged yesterday after admitting to indecently assaulting a 36-year-old woman he brought on the voyage earlier this week.
Christophe Hody, 47, of Belgium, indecently assaulted the woman inside their room aboard MSC Seashore around 2am on September 7.
Hody and the complainant had spent the previous night drinking before returning to their room. While there, the complainant took medication for a headache and fell asleep.
She reportedly awoke after feeling a strange sensation near her private area and accused Hody of sexually assaulting her.
The complainant then fled the room and alerted authorities.
Tourism police were notified when the ship docked at the Nassau Cruise Port and officers processed the scene.
Hody pleaded guilty to indecent assault before Deputy Chief Magistrate Shaka Serville.
He told the court that he had brought the complainant on the trip and paid for her ticket.
Hody said they shared a bed and acknowledged that both had been intoxicated. However, he claimed he was only being affectionate and believed the complainant had consented.
Hody had spent the previous several days in police custody.
After reviewing the evidence, Magistrate Serville warned and discharged him for the offence.
Inspector Cordero Farrington prosecuted the case.
