ON September 10, 1973, Bahamian baseball player Wenty Ford made his Major League Baseball debut, taking the mound for the Atlanta Braves against the San Francisco Giants.

Ford delivered a memorable performance in his first game in the Major Leagues, pitching a complete game as the Braves defeated the Giants 10-4. He allowed five hits and four runs while recording three strikeouts and six walks.

His debut was a significant moment for Bahamian baseball, coming just days after another Bahamian, Ed Armbrister, made his MLB debut with the Cincinnati Reds. 

Born in New Providence (Nassau) in 1946, Ford appeared in four games for the Atlanta Braves during the 1973 season, finishing with a 1-2 record. Although his Major League career was brief, his September 10 debut remains a notable moment in the history of Bahamian sport.
