Man gets $17,000 bail over pistol allegedly concealed in his groin area

A 23-year-old man was granted $17,000 bail after police allegedly found a loaded 9mm pistol concealed in his groin area during a traffic stop.


Tyler Munroe appeared before Magistrate Lennox Coleby charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition after police allegedly found a Smith & Wesson MP9 pistol and seven rounds of ammunition on September 9.


Munroe was driving near Shell’s Gas Station at Bailou Hill Road and Carmichael Road when officers on mobile patrol stopped him.


Police allegedly found the black and silver 9mm pistol in his groin area. 

The weapon contained a silver magazine loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition.


Munroe was arrested and later interviewed under caution at the Criminal Investigations Department.

He offered no comment when shown the firearm, magazine and ammunition.


He pleaded not guilty to the charges.


Munroe was granted $17,000 bail with two sureties and was ordered to report to Carmichael Police Station. 

He was also fitted with an electronic monitoring device.


The matter continues on November 13, 2026.
