A 35-year-old man who was already on bail for a firearm and ammunition charge was sentenced to six months in prison on Friday after admitting that six .40-calibre rounds found taped beneath a bathroom sink at a Kemp Road home belonged to him.
Kirkwood Rolle and Ashanique Johnson, 23, were charged with possession of ammunition after police searched a residence on Lipton Court, Kemp Road, on September 10.
Both were present when officers executed the search warrant.
During the search, police allegedly found six rounds of .40-calibre ammunition in a clear plastic bag taped beneath the bathroom sink.
Rolle reportedly admitted at the scene that the ammunition belonged to him.
Both defendants appeared before Magistrate Lennox Coleby on Friday. Rolle pleaded guilty, while Johnson pleaded not guilty.
Inspector Timothy Bain prosecuted the matter.
The prosecution later withdrew the charge against Johnson, resulting in her acquittal and release.
Magistrate Coleby told Johnson that the arrest would remain on her record and could appear if she were stopped at a police roadblock or applied for a visa.
Rolle’s bail on his previous firearm and ammunition charge was revoked.
He was sentenced to six months in prison.
