Ron Pinder, The Bahamas’ ambassador-at-large for environmental and educational matters, yesterday presented this nation’s country programme framework (CPF) to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The framework, which covers the period 2026–2031, was presented to Hua Liu, IAEA deputy director-general and head of its department of technical co-operation, and signed yesterday.
The IAEA, in a statement, said The Bahamas has been a member state since 2014. The framework identifies five priority areas - nuclear and radiation safety and nuclear security; food and agriculture; human health and nutrition; water and the environment; energy and industry.
The IAEA added that the framework provides the foundation for medium-term technical co-operation planning between a member state and itself, and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical co-operation resources will be directed to support national development goals.
