A MAN was accused of raping a 24-year-old woman in New Providence last month.
Prosecutors allege Ismaila Haruna, 31, raped the woman on August 18.
Haruna was not required to enter a plea to a charge of rape when he appeared before Magistrate Abigail Farrington.
He was informed that the matter would proceed to the Supreme Court through a voluntary bill of indictment.
Haruna was also advised of his right to apply for bail before the higher court.
He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until December 3, when he is expected to be served with the voluntary bill of indictment.
Reserve Inspector Deveaux prosecuted the case.
