GLOBAL Sun turned a day of competition at Royal Blue Golf Club into a championship performance, finishing first in the second Bankers Athletics Association Golf Tournament of the year.

The tournament brought together nine teams for a competitive day on the course at Baha Mar, with Global Sun, Fidelity and Central Bank claiming the top three team positions.

Stephen Johnson, Larry Glinton, Driskell Rolle and Antoine Roberts combined to give Global Sun the winning score and the tournament championship.

Fidelity finished second with Francis Adderley, Cherrilyn Arthur, Crestwell Gardiner and Jayson Clarke, while Central Bank placed third behind the team of Ivanna Gaitor, Gavin Brown, Malik Cleare and Elijah Delancy.

The tournament also featured individual challenges, with several golfers recognised for their performances.

Crestwell Gardiner of Fidelity and Elijah Delancy of Central Bank shared the men’s closest-to-the-pin honours.

Malik Cleare of Central Bank captured the men’s longest-drive award, while Global Sun’s Rolle was named the female longest-drive winner. The individual awards reflected the competition throughout the tournament.

The golfers from the leading teams made their mark in the different categories.

Female Longest Drive: Driskell Rolle, Global Sun

Clarke, speaking on behalf of the directors of the Bankers Athletics Association, said the tournament delivered the type of competition the organisers were hoping for.

“It was a very competitive tournament and we had a great time,” Clarke said.

The event marked the association’s second golf tournament of the year and continued its efforts to use sporting activities to bring members of the banking community together.
