AML Foods yesterday said its new $15m Cost Right store will be 30 percent larger than the fire-destroyed original when it opens at Old Trail Road in early 2027.

The BISX-listed food retail and franchise group, in a statement, confirmed that construction is underway on its new 70,000 square foot Cost Right Warehouse Club Nassau outlet. It is being developed at the site of the original outlet’s location, which was destroyed along with its affiliated Solomon’s store in the devastating April 2025 fire.

At around 70,000 square feet, AML Foods said the new location will be 30 percent larger than the original Cost Right, creating additional space to support a broader, enhanced shopping experience for customers and the brand’s continued growth. The new facility is expected to open in early 2027.

“Seeing construction progress on the new Cost Right Nassau is an exciting milestone for our company and, importantly, for our customers,” said Gavin Watchorn, AML Foods president and chief executive. “Cost Right has long been an important part of how Bahamians shop for value, and we are investing in a new facility that is larger, more modern and designed to serve our customers well into the future.”

While the new store is under construction, AML Foods said Cost Right has remained accessible to Bahamian consumers online through the availability of 120 grocery and janitorial items, together with select frozen products, meat and seafood. These are available online for delivery or pick-up from their temporary Peach Street location, the former Milo Butler Warehouse.

Customers can also access these goods through www.costrightfreeport.com, with free delivery to the Peach Street warehouse and Family Island mailboats. Grocery shopping and household appliances are also available in-store and online at Solomon’s Yamacraw.
