A 41-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted at a Soldier Road home after her employer’s boyfriend locked her inside, threatened her life and tried to stop her from escaping.
The incident reportedly occurred around 9.30am on Monday at a residence on Yametto Drive, where the Haitian woman works as a caregiver for two children.
According to a preliminary police report, the woman was at the residence when her employer’s boyfriend approached her.
Police said the man entered the home, locked the door behind him and allegedly pushed the woman against a refrigerator before sexually assaulting her.
The woman reported that the suspect threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
During the alleged assault, the employer’s mother arrived at the residence, prompting the suspect to force the woman into a bathroom, according to police.
The woman managed to escape the residence and ran outside, but police said the suspect attempted to forcibly bring her back inside.
She resisted, and during the struggle, the suspect allegedly struck her about the body before leaving the area in his vehicle.
A neighbour, who is a police officer, assisted the woman and contacted a relative to help overcome a language barrier.
The woman has since received medical attention.
