A SALES representative at an auto parts store was accused of defrauding three people of more than $17,500 last year.
Prosecutors allege Dereck Higgs, 34, an employee of Consumer Auto Parts, obtained the money under false pretences in three separate incidents between October and November 2025.
Higgs pleaded not guilty to three counts of fraud by false pretences before Senior Magistrate Kendra Kelly-Burrows.
He is accused of defrauding Jen Rolle of $2,524.70 on October 28, 2025; Ricardo Wallace of $8,748.87 between October 29 and 30, 2025; and Terrina Rolle of $6,527.38 between November 9 and 12, 2025.
Higgs was granted $5,000 bail with one or two sureties. Under the terms of his bail, he must sign in at the Carmichael Road Police Station on the last Sunday of every month.
He returns for trial on January 27, 2027.
Sergeant Vernon Pyfrom prosecuted the case.
