cmiller 9 years, 8 months ago on Minnis: Vote shows lack of trust in Christie govt

I have lost complete trust in Minnis too, after the fish incident, so I don't know how he could be here saying this. We need more women in politics, cause most of these men are just scared little mice!!!! No balls, no courage, no backbone......just scared.

The position of Leader of the Opposition carries weight and responsibility. Your lack of engagement and this response to LBT remarks graphically shows how little you understand about your duties.

Forget voting monitors, we need monitors for how Minnis goes about getting fresh fish delivered to his home! Minnis, as a dishonest and incompetent politician with absolutely no leadership skills whatsoever, has fractured the FNM party into smithereens and left it deprived of funding from many of its past financial backers. Christie and the PLP are banking on those FNM Council members who unwisely continue to support Minnis to secure a big win for the PLP in the next general election. Minnis is truly Christie's "ace in the hole" as can be seen by from that sly grin on Christie's face whenever Minnis opens his mouth as leader of the opposition and FNM party.

"Dr Minnis expressed confusion at the anger some Bahamians felt over the “no” result."

Well let me make it simple for you Dr. Minnis. Many Bahamians are angry that women's rights have once again been trampled on because politicians on both sides of the political spectrum have used the 2002 and 2016 referenda to score political points instead of showing true leadership and putting the national interest first. LBT is 100% right in her condemnation of you. Once again you completely failed a test of leadership. How can you persuade the electorate that you are a Prime Minister in waiting when you behave exactly like the PLP????

Yes Economist, that is the ultimate difference in the four areas that approved at least one of the bills- educated professional class and enlightenment. I know lots of people in this demographic who don't live in these areas and they voted yes as well. While plenty middle class people also voted against them for religious or professional reasons(doctors- that's whole different story) the vote was definitely split along class/education lines. The dumbing down of the Bahamian population by the political class- many of whom who voted yes- since independence has been a sad and total success.

John 9 years, 8 months ago on Shot dead at the ATM: Churchman one of three people killed during bloody Sunday

When the incidence of murder started to increase, it was always the police and the news reports that would be sure to state " the victim was known to police" (he had a criminal record) or he had recently been released from prison, or that he was a known gang member, or that he was involved in drugs. Sometimes these speculations were never confirmed and while it may made it more easy for the public to accept that " hey we have a serious crime and murder problem." It did not make it easier for the victims of those families who had to endure the talk. Each person killed should have been treated as a victim of murder and no effort spared to find his killers. A clear message should have been sent that no message in this town would be tolerated, regardless of who the victim was or what the motive was. And even today the public tends to blame the victim of murder regardless of the circumstance. There is clear evidence that murder in this country is for hire and affordable, and also that there are desperate people willing to take a life for a few dollars. And as the economy continues to slide downward, so does the value of life. Can you honestly say that there has been any improvement in the economy over the past five years? What about the quality and standard of living? Shall we continue to bury our heads in the sand?

" Under the FNM, there will be no more business as usual, we will take concrete steps to make our streets and communities safe and secure.”

And what are those steps? Show how the FNM has the answer. Say it and if the PLP follows you can take credit for the saving of lives when you campaign.

Loretta Butler-Turner talks a good talk in Parliament but some will have to come to terms that she ultimately makes no sense. She has a habit of twisting facts and history as she pleases — just watch the parliamentary channel a few times. If we had fact checkers, she'd be high on the list.

Duane “No Seat” Sands has good ideas but he just can’t seem to win....his seat?

Dr. Minnis is an absolute neophyte to front-line politics?

Peter Turnquest?

The pickings for the ‘FNM’ are extraordinarily slim?

Honestman 9 years, 8 months ago on Minnis: I’ll win leadership fight

If Doc comes out of the convention as leader it will be as leader of a hugely diminished party. This is the "last chance saloon" for the FNM. If the delegates get this wrong then the FNM will be an irrelevance come May 2017.

One of the best ways out of poverty is education. Funny he does not mention that, or have any plans of how to better the education system.

Maybe he does not want to empower people, but just wants to have power over them.
