Threat of crime at 'critical' levels
I noticed an earlier comment that said that we were "subject to British rules," I disagree. We are subject to British interpretation of our rules. "Interpretation" is what the Privy council does. The do not legislate.

And, we don't have to worry about members of the Privy Council attending the local social events and running into the politicians. No waiting to see what corporate board, cushy law chambers or government posting or appointment they get after leaving the bench? Having the distance between the Privy Council and our politics everywhere Bahamaland is not such a bad thing.. Besides bringing home the Privy Council to wear Bahamian robes to me may be bad thing considering that the "majority" of prisoners serving sentences up at Fox Hill are there on minor "non-violent" crimes, locked-up, taken from the family islands and their support families to stick them up in an overcrowded Fox Hill laving the families to incur unaffortable expenses to visit them in Nassau, Something tells me that I don't want to trust the Hangman's Noose in the local hands of some of these Judges, Police and lawyers, if this so-called smarty pants bunch still after all these years cannot figure out how to properly deal with such minor offenses.

Yes, if you keep saying crime must come down, and how serious you are, then maybe the criminals will stop what they are doing and see the errors in their ways. Wake up people, you can't stop some one from trying to commit a crime but you can use inteligence, manpower and 21st century technology to put a dent in their efforts. There are thousands if not millions of terrorist worldwide who would love to destroy America, but they are repeatedly thwarted because of proper, intelligence and investigative agencies along with technology that is used to prevent these acts. Its time for us to realized that we are being terrorrized by our own citizens and we need to do what is needed to combat these terrorist not just talk about it.

The reality is that th PLP has much mor questionable characters on their frontline than the FNM or the DNA. Take a survey and you will find out that more than 70% of the males in prison claim to be supporters of the Progressive Liberal Party thats just the way it is.

Implement VAT...you better dang well do away with import duties then!!

No, VAT is separate from import tax which is what the customs officers are doing now. Having VAT does not mean you lose import tax, customs would remain as is.

yup, there would be additionally taxes. The Bahamas has been needing to revamp its tax system for a while now. So sad it has to be done during a time when we're all struggling.

UPDATED: Cassius Stuart pulls out of FNM deputy leader race
Mr. Stuart would do well to withdraw from active politics all together. Many FNMs would agree that he has brought nothing to the table. He seems hellbent on worming his way into parliament. There must be other personal endeavors you want to pursue Mr. Stuart. We are pleased that you are so enthusiastic about our democracy but one has to be realistic. If you had lost with your former BDM party I would have said ok well this guy stuck to his guns even if it meant him losing. But a defeat again and this time with a major political party I'm sure changes the game for you. Sometimes we can do more to help others in our private lives than we can publicly. Service to others is service to others. You don't need a public platform to serve others.

Ronton and 242 - I think yall missed it with the compassion and humanity characterization of Uncle Nottage - its simpler than that - its the PLP way, pander to the ignorance, turn the whole country into a ghetto and then all the grass roots will continue to vote PLP because they love slackness and they are at home wallowing in the crime infested mud - so to have the ENTIRE country in that state is just PERFECT for the PLP and their agenda to stuff their pockets while they give the grass roots masses $500 per vote.

Again, the ignorance of PLP's in our society is an embarrassment and is debilating this country.

Whoever has it I'll pay the shipping charges to return it back to Queen Liz and the Queen in waiting Camilla over in England? Hopefully this is a sign from God that colonialism is really coming to an end for our Bahamaland. Good Lardy me. PM Christie and Comrade Brave don't you dare even think about placing that more ragged than Dowdswell Street bitch pot cake dog's mug of the future Queen Camilla on our currency. Do that and you don't make even two years in office.

maybw guiltyy take insult to notsogullable's comments. Everyone has their opinions. Everyone has made good points. even here n there tal russel has made points (although rare) . We all should read post fully before responding. when yoy got people sayin that ingraham ran for pm in 2002 they clearly dont know enough history to make a statement lije that. Sayin that people who voted for a candidate that lost votes adds up to zero is like saying that the dna n bcp had no supporters.
