THE legitimacy of a video purportedly showing discovered parts of the Piper Aztec plane that crashed in waters off Andros last month is being investigated, the Air Accident Investigation Department’s Chief Accident Investigator, Delvin Major, said Friday.
The video was posted by a user on Facebook around 10pm Thursday and has been widely shared on the platform, with nearly 1,000 shares up to press time.
It appears to show the outline of some kind of craft in the water, as onlookers observe.
The user who posted the video said: “They said only 5% of the plane that went down in north Andros was found, but yesterday locals went to site and found the whole plane and the engines. They also found human bones. If one of you’ll family members was on this plane, this plane would of been up out of the water.”
Mr Major, however, said the Officer in Charge of an Andros police station told him no one has reported the matter to him.
“I’ve already notified the NTSB, the manufacturers of the plane and the insurance company of the possible salvage and told them to be on standby until we get confirmation so if it is the remains of the plane we can coordinate and determine if there are human remains as well. I’m just sitting waiting for word from police on whether this report was accurate.”
The plane crashed on January 17th as it headed to Nassau from South Andros. Six people died in the crash.
It has since been revealed that the pilot lacked the required licenses to charter flights.
Investigators also believe weather may have played a role in the crash.

They were late going out to look for the missing plane and, apparently, the authorities were premature in abandoning the search for the wreckage. All the focus is on the reports that the pilot was a hacker who was not qualified to fly the aircraft. But what about the reports that the plane made it to New Providence but was denied permission to land so attempted to go back to Andros in bad weather and zero visibility. Do air traffic controllers keep tapes of their instr and commutations with pilots? After all six lives were lost

well he was unqualified, and a hacker.

Maybe now they can give an accurate accounting of what really happens.

There is something fishy going on. A full investigation of the investigation is called for. The Air Traffic controllers involved, and the pilots who heard the conversation between ATC and the pilot, need to be interviewed under oath and the results reported in full. There appears to be something that the government does not want to come out. The families and the public need the truth.

That aircraft never made it to Nassau.
