So just how serious is our PM about CARICOM?
Just how serious is the Prime Minister when it comes to CARICOM? Stayed one day and flew off to New York for a personal event, an award from UWI Alumni Association. Congrats on the award!
Time to wake up and speak out
I am writing this letter on behalf of us, the Bahamian people, in the spirit of constructive criticism and with suggestions for improving the woeful passport office experience. I am certainly thankful that this is but a “once-every-10 years” occurrence because my recent experience was a two-day/7 hour debacle.
The problem is the way we vote now
Enact ranked choice voting. Anyone who endorses democracy and understands our voting process can tell you our system is flawed. The two-party system is clearly dysfunctional: Party tribalism divides and distracts us, and who wouldn’t want more options in political representation? I doubt anyone is satisfied with what’s currently available at the voting booth.
Local taxes for local needs
Please let me know if the following analogy is incorrect.
We need caution on Venezuela policy
What we are seeing play out in Venezuela today would probably have horrified Dwight Eisenhower.
Are we getting the security we deserve? No . . .
The issues at National Security - are we getting the service and the security we should be receiving bearing in mind the enormous percentage of the National Budge expended?
We have to plan if we want equal pay
Is Article 26 of The Constitution concerning discrimination constantly being abused?
Press the button on chronic radio callers
Today on one of the radio stations around noon the listening public had to endure one chronic caller and an ex-politician in full flight talking total gibberish.
Time to return Freeport to the success it once was
I was relieved to hear Prime Minister Minnis say in his recent national address that his government was well on its way to resurrecting Grand Bahama’s economy with the reopening of the hotels, golf course, casino, etc.
Right choice for our port
It has long been accepted and preached from the roof tops throughout this wonderful nation that I am a proud New Deal PLP. My leader is the Hon. Philip ‘Brave’ Davis, QC, MP (Cat Island; Rum Cay & San Salvador), whom I consider the Prime Minister-in-waiting. So, my political alliance is not a hidden secret. There are events, however, which transcends the inevitable blur and misconceptions of pure politics.
Why waste so much on drones?
Can the Commissioner of Police, or anyone else definitively state, as a result of police action serious crime - serious crime, murder, has decreased, or is it the law of averages…300+ murdered over the past three years. Perhaps 300 criminals locked up, so you have basically exhausted who will commit the serious crime? Oh, we are pleased with the decrease.
Walkabout won't solve the mess
How we solve our problems is a pretence of questionable sense – get five – six ASPs from the police together and do a walk-a-bout downtown, if that reassures anyone - gather four-five ASPs do a walk-about and all is resolved like drinking down Alka Seltzer!
Time to reveal the ugly truth
So the four PLP parliamentarians have walked out of the House claiming that government is harassing their supporters and marching them into the hands of the law. Apparently, they have no intention of returning to parliament until the so-called witch hunt ends!
Cut out the speed bumps
I understand that there is currently a proposal before the Ministry of Works to install even more speed bumps on the eastern end of New Providence, specifically on Sassoon Drive.
Too much secrecy, I fear
Why has Government created around BP&L so much secrecy – unusual lack of transparency?
