More patrols to save lives
RULES of the road for drivers of motor vehicles have to be followed to the tee unless we want headlines of more victims from accidents.
Wrong model
I write today in reference to recent comments from the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources stating that they would boost wholesale exportation of the Bahamian lobster. There won’t be any marine resources left to have a ministry of if we do that!
Grand Bahama hotel a gamble
In the 1970s, the Pindling government embarked on its disastrous programme of hotel ownership to create jobs for Bahamians.
Danger of unwise taxation
There is much written about the sanctity of a man’s home and in particular, that it is considered to be his castle and last refuge. One such poignant reference:
My media life, for the record
My independent contract with the Verizon Media Group, parent company of The Real Deal, radio and televised talk show, rated number one, has been terminated by management for cause, relative to the manner in which I would have conducted the same.
We want truth over generators
Serious allegations have been thrown at BP&L over the process of the questioned RFP for the placement of Aggreko standby generators and we read today a statement-comments from the GM and we have to ask – which world is he living?
Tackling the air hackers
The long-awaited aircraft accident report of the fatal January 2018 crash has been released by The Bahamas’ Air Accident Investigation Department (AAID). Incidents like these rehash national focus on the pervasive aviation issue of “hacking” in The Bahamas. A reference to hacking in short refers to the carriage by air of passengers by operators not licensed to conduct such services for reward.
Beach vendors
Goodman’s Bay…has Parks given permission for Arawak Cay style beach concessions?
Reasons to be proud?
RECENTLY, much was proclaimed unthinkingly about how far The Bahamas has come in 45 years of independence.
Traffic laws
In my humble opinion if the traffic laws in this country were being enforced, there would be a drastic decrease in the country’s overall debt. I am appalled at the many traffic violations that are seen on our streets daily.
No to Oban
RUMBLINGS of an OBAN-2…Version one-two-three-four.
Hacker pilots
CIVIL Aviation has to be joking….CCTV around General Aviation is not going to prove anything.
Bishop Curry not faithful
Bishop Michael Curry is an engaging communicator. This is evident from his Royal Wedding sermon and, more recently, his sermon at Christ Church Cathedral on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Union of Black Episcopalians (UBE). But more important than being engaging, a preacher of God’s word must be faithful to God’s word. Sadly, by this more important measurement, Bishop Curry falls far short.
Make a better first impression
I write to wholeheartedly agree with the chairman of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce, Michael Maura: the urgent redevelopment of the Prince George Wharf must be a priority of this government. In general, The Bahamas tends to fail at identifying and taking advantage of emerging economic opportunities. Well, in this instance, Arawak Port Development seems to have identified a great one.
An answer for Brave
Although it was not his intention, Guardian cartoonist Sideburns very effectively provided the answer to Brave Davis’ question about where the money was coming from to buy the Grand Lucayan Hotel in Grand Bahama.
