Light gun sentences

On the same day last week that it reported the 121st murder of a Bahamian for 2022, The Nassau Guardian casually reported that a man was sentenced to a mere three years in prison by one of our magistrates for driving around New Providence with an assault rifle in his car.

Goodman’s Bay

Totally agree with writer P Bullard. Visitors from the States once residents who frequented Goodman's Bay in their time wanted to stop and spend some hours enjoying the quietness and the views of the bay - got there around 11:30 in the morning and round-and-round we drove trying to find a parking spot in the eastern end of the park. Eventually risked parking behind a parked vehicle of a person who got there before and were on the beach and they kindly offered to park behind us as we weren't leaving for an hour.

FTX impact

The full financial, social and political impact of FTX’s collapse is far from being known – in my view. One thing is certain, and that is a multitude of ordinary hardworking folks throughout the world have lost their whole life savings – or a significant portion of it as a result of FTX’s burst bubble.

Sensible plan?

IS government development of housing in a country, especially on New Providence with very little useable real estate left, the policy of this Government and of the past sensible?

Cat Island

This letter is addressed to the attention of our Prime Minister of the Bahamas, also the representative of Cat Island.

Solomon’s cannot revive GB

Grand Bahama Minister Ginger Moxey recently told attendees at The Winn ceremony that the revitalisation of downtown Freeport is finally here.

Free food for needy

Should those who really have a lot go online when there is ‘free food’ being distributed and partake? Surely their conscience pricks them?

The causes of crime

As A trained lawyer, albeit a defrocked one, I had extensive practice before the Criminal Defence Bar during my hey days. In fact, at any given time, I commanded 80 per cent or more of the most heinous cases before all courts, the Supreme and Magistrates included. The other lawyers were obliged to literally, in some case, fight for the crumbs. As such, I came to understand the economic and psychology of crime and the causation.

Protect our children

“WE owe our children, the most vulnerable in our society, a life free of violence and fear.” — Nelson Mandela.

National health care system plan

FROM the very early days of the late great and deeply lamented Sir Lynden Oscar Pindling, The Bahamas has been debating and talking about a National Health Care system, as nauseum.

FTX customers

I have seen a pie chart from, https://twitter.com/whalechart/status/ 1595384133827854336?s=21 – about the global distribution of FTX customers as of “The Petition Date”.

Charlotte St roadworks

People have said much about what the former Prime Minister Hubert Alexander Ingraham did, and what he did not do...attempting to penalise him for not being a Saviour to many of them, etc?

Christmas is back

The Bahamas has been on a rough economic, mental and societal roller coaster over the past several years. First we had assorted storms and hurricanes, Dorian being the most destructive in many years.

Taken aback by how FTX met its demise

Greetings and thank you yet again for the opportunity to address these several points of national importance, I appreciate it.

Is this a parking zone?

West Bay opposite OPM the Wynn property the centre green median – is this a parking zone? The past few weeks obviously construction workers are using this green no parking zone for a convenient parking area – one, it obstructs the view for oncoming traffic, secondly, if there was an accident certainly potential for fire in a number of vehicles.
