Abaconian 9 years, 5 months ago on FNM: PM's view of economy is a fairy tale

But most people don't seem to care.. Mainly because so many don't understand the effects and consequences.

But when Buddy Hield gets criticised, the whole nation rises and comes to his defence. When a women writes an article about us, the whole nation rises and ridicules her. When the issue of gay marriage comes up, the whole nation is suddenly interested in politics and wants their voice heard. Everyone seems to have their opinion about the politicians, but only a few seem to have an opinion about their actual policies and decisions! It seems as though only the petty and trivial things are able to gain enough attention to warrant Bahamians to speak out.

Meanwhile, the government is systematically, piece by piece, destroying the financial stability of this country and they are facing little opposition in the process. Where is the public outrage? Why aren't they getting slammed by the press and the public to the same degree as they would in any other modern, democratic country. Only now do I see the opposition speaking up, and they aren't even saying much... WHERE have you been the last 4 years!?!? Sleeping?! This is pathetic.

You have to laugh at the pious tv appearances by the PM and others with their sad faces and please for donations and financial help when they are reaping what they have sown with blatant mismanagement of the public funds, and no accountability , then expect the business community and public to bail them out. And guess what, of all the excellent suggestions listed by Mr Gibson the PM and his cronies will take absolutely no notice and carry on as before.

Abaconian 9 years, 1 month ago on Gray: Govt would not give foreigners licence to fish

"There could be no way that this minister of this government would give foreigners...a license to fish in the Bahamas".. Then why is the draft proposal called the "China-Bahamas agriculture and FISHERIES initiative"? Why is the word "fisheries" included if it wasn't something he is open to? Stop telling lies Gray.

In a time when we should be cutting DOWN on our fishing exports rather than increasing them, in a time when we should be looking to capitalise on our fisheries without harming our cultural heritage and tourism industry...here comes people like Mr. Gray who is open to the idea of exporting vast amounts of seafood to the Chinese to provide liquidity and cashflow for other Chinese investments.. which all stem from the desperate need for money...which further stems from poor decisions that this gov. has made. It's clear as day.

Just look at what he's done since he's been Minister - Either he doesn't give a shit about our environment or he is absolutely clueless as to the state of our environment and fisheries ("bey we got lone fish"). Or both.

Just because they might not give licenses to actual Chinese people to be on boats fishing our waters, doesn't mean they aren't open to Bahamians fishing for them instead - just like the proposal states. That's how they would screw us. They'll get Bahamians to fish for the Chinese in a China-Bahamas partnership that exports seafood to China and then claim that he never lied because no Chinese people are on the boats doing the fishing. He'll claim it as a "Bahamians first" type of deal. Gray is one of the biggest national security threats to this country. He's a terrible lawyer, politician and he's as crooked as they come. Plus, he's as dumb as a brick. Anyone who's ever dealt with him can attest to that.

Naughtydread 9 years, 1 month ago on Gray confirms nod for $2bn agriculture talks with Chinese

So this dumb man actually thinks the Chinese are interested in farming!? All they are interested in is raping our waters of fish. Farming in the Bahamas is not sustainable and that is why it has never been pursued by Bahamians. This @$$ actually has the nerve to talk about "food security"! It's honestly scary to have a man as incompetent as V Alfred Gray formulating plans for our economy. Go home Alfred, your drunk!

BahamaPundit 9 years, 1 month ago on Govt plays down China partnership

It goes without saying that allowing China to engage in exporting seafood and establishing fisheries should be out of the question. This would devastate Bahamian fish stocks and compete directly with local fishermen for market share. When you get in bed with a nuclear armed comunist government, you will always lose -- hands down.

Bahamians need to be vigilant and make sure that this is a purely peaceful protest. The power of a huge peaceful protest cannot be over-estimated. We need a big turnout to encourage hard working Bahamians that their voices are important and to force this government to re-think its attitude towards the the people it is supposed to serve.

Well said Honestman: There is not enough money anywhere in the opposition forces to overcome the Peoples Republic of China and or the PLP indebted Web Shops. The Bahamian People alone can overcome this very heavy weight and Black Friday will be a little preview of things to come.

Emac 9 years ago on Miller: I’ll give activist $1,000 for every vote over 200 if he runs

Why do PLPs feel that only them have a God given right to lead this country, voice their opinion or speak out? The last time I checked, the Bahamas was a democratic country. Everyone has a right to protest or speak out against the many ills of our society. This past demonstration proves that Bahamians can show their displeasure without being violent or breaking the law. But I think Miller and Fred them are threatened by what occurred last Friday that's why they are up in arms about it.

Emac- they are weak, useless cowards drinking at the teat of the public purse. Useless cowards ALL. They don't have one ounce of the courage and daring that young man and the people who chose to march have and they realize they are about to be cut off from their breast milk. This very proposal is insulting to the organizers and the marchers and reeks of desperation. The least they could have done is find a man that would be good for the bet! Everybody know Leslie can't pay. But joking aside politics is a dirty game and Miller is one of the dirtiest - trying to appeal to ego and base instincts because that is what he understands best. He is a good dirty politician and like most of his comrades, he can't do much else. He has nothing to show for his time in office- not one piece of legislation, one one proposal enacted to make this country run better. All these dudes need to cyah their behinds and he need to lead that conga line into obscurity.
