Mr Pintard, grow up

As a loyal FNM, I want to urge party leader Michael Pintard to grow up. It is time for maturity and wisdom, not for flying off the handle talking foolishness, especially during a by-election. He needs to show humility and stop being so arrogant.

The people need to be represented

I have been very acquainted with the struggles emanating out of the constituency where the vacancy occurred, and the mixed emotions, the wayward sentiment often times, than not, when the decision goes against the choices of the constituents so impacted and needing to have a representer of substance, focused, and people centric agitating for and on their behalf sitting in the Halls Of the People’s Debating Chamber (the parliament of the Bahamas), in principle many have deemed meritoriously, and having merit, and deserving the utmost praise, we believed.

Will PLP fire up the non-voters?

Bye elections...hmm just what we needed to fire up the procrastinators, etc, comments, etc.

Overpass fixes airport road traffic?

Before we start spending millions on widening Gladstone Road has anyone thought of building an over pass at the junction of Gladstone and the Airport Road onto Baha Mar Boulevard from Gladstone curving east carrying the Gladstone traffic?

The PLP’s triumvirate unbeatable

The Progressive Liberal Party is led my an unbeatable Triumvirate in the form of the Most Hon. Philip ‘Brave’ Davis, KC, MP; the Honourable I Chester Cooper, MP, and the Honourable Frederick A Mitchell, MP. A triumvirate is an administration or a government led by three individuals who, while nominally wielding equal power, there is one amongst them who is primus inter pares, or first amongst equals. Clearly, this is what is needed in our wonderful nation at this critical juncture.

Responding to calls of need

History is full of events and people that have done horrible things, as we are witnessing in Gaza, The Middle East, Russia-Ukraine, and so many other places in the world. Bad things happening to good, innocent people, families, communities and entire peoples.

Human crisis if no govt plan

The government of The Bahamas risks causing a humanitarian crisis if they do not have appropriate provisions in place to shelter and support the hundreds of people, including many children, who will be made homeless through its shanty town eviction policy.

Protection of children needs focus

November 5, 2023, marks the second anniversary of the murder of “Baby Bella” Burrows for a Better Bahamas remembers Grand Bahama children that we lost to murder. The state of child protection in The Bahamas is tragic, and we have not seen the political will needed to make the protection of our most vulnerable a national priority. How many more children will we allow to fall prey to incest, physical violence, emotional abuse and neglect?

Remove VAT from healthy food

The PLP government must act immediately and remove VAT from all essential healthy food items. This PLP Government must move beyond just talk and follow the example of Governments all over the world who have taken definitive action to combat high food prices and the inflation crisis by removing VAT from essential healthy food.

Water leak points to derelict govt

I am a tenant at one of the Government senior citizens apartments complex on Finlayson Street in Bain Town, and since over a year ago we had water leakage going on in the bathrooms, but lately, beginning last week.

PHA’s statement not reality

I am writing to thank The Tribune for publishing my letter regarding the “Blood bank policy is a failure” (August 25, 2023). It speaks volumes about The Tribune’s dedication to journalism as a beacon of light for Bahamians where there otherwise would be darkness.

Politics and church don’t mix

Politics and church? Should never mix so the PLP going to a church pre-their launch of their West End-Bimini campaign is certainly not appropriate dividing the community on religious grounds, stupid, but we do it and too many churches allow politicians in their pulpits when Revs may not go into the pulpit of the politician - House of Assembly.

Lest we forget what FNM did

I find it very amusing every time I listen to talk shows and people are ranting and raving about one issue or the other.

Some PLP’s hearing voices?

It has been written that: ‘Whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad.’ This bold and provocative quote has caused many persons to act out of the box, across the board. There are others who remind me of the fabled Don Quixote, the deluded hero and protagonist of a novel by a Spanish author hundreds of years ago. He was accompanied by his faithful valet called Sanchez.

A weekend of empty promises!

This past weekend, the full machinery of both the Progressive Liberal Party(PLP) and the Free National Movement(FNM) rolled into west Grand Bahama. They were in full campaign mode. The showmanship, the high fives, and the fist bumping were everywhere. It was evident (to me at least) that emotions have been stirred in both political camps.
