Sickened 11 years, 6 months ago on Rollins calls for new leadership

The Bahamian people now need to get on the streets and start marching and rallying for the PM to resign. Between the rebel PLP's, the few 'Strong' FNM MP's, and 10,000+ Bahamian voters then we should be able to get Perry and Brave out of front line politics.

Wow, just read the fuller content of Rollins' speech in the guardian and for once pseudo dictation said something, because boy did Rollins say something. He cut them off at the knees, Renew Bahamas and transparency, he went there, mortgage relief he went there, propped up jobs for aging retired cronies he went there, nothing jobs for young campaign supporters, incompetence from the last PLP administration, Christie's puffed-uppedness, he went all those places. I hope ZNS repeats the whole speech and advertises the time slot, I'd like to see that contribution play for play. (right)

TheMadHatter 11 years, 5 months ago on MP defies party leadership over call to resign

What does Davis mean by "do the right thing" ?

Rollins does not need to resign a position that he does not have. He can simply say that he will not operate in the position "by extension of the post", but instead that he will only operate as Board Chairman if he is appointed as such.

If Davis is suggesting that he resign his Seat in Parliament - or as a member of the Party - then that is an even bigger joke.

In all cases, Rollins should just chill and wait for them to act. The PM cannot fire him as an MP - only the people can do that. However, he can be expelled from the Party and would then become and independent MP, unless he joins the FNM - but I doubt he would do that.

An interesting set of events. I hope Dr. Rollins continues to stand his ground. He does not have to worry about losing his Seat as an MP. I believe if that were to happen (which would be illegal) the lazy half-dead half-asleep tv-watching pastor-following people of the Bahamas would finally wake up and realize they are living in a dictatorship (where your voting ballot has a number on it) and we would have a new Burma Road.

Nightmares? When you can tune into over a dozen radio stations and here opinions that attack the very party that gave them the opportunity to broadcast their views? Try that before the FNM wrestled the PLP death-grip on Bahamians out of their greedy, self-entitled hands.

Nightmares? When you can drive from East End to Clifton in 40 minutes?

Perhaps you don't have any bad dreams about a government that crams legislation down the throats of the people because they need to return political favours. I'm thinking about Stem Cell Research, Gambling (after the people said NO, and now VAT (with one day of debate that no one knew was coming)

Give me a break, and sweet dreams when you see your have VAT added to your bill at the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker.

SP 11 years, 5 months ago on New measures planned to tackle illegal immigration

Mitchell is a flaming jackass. After 41 years of lip service PLP and FNM continue rattling sabers and doing nothing tangible about the Haitian invasion.

The proof is undeniably evident that PLP and FNM policies greatly encourage illegal Haitians and others to come.

Illegal Haitians have more rights in the Bahamas than they do in Haiti at the expense of tax paying Bahamians. There are no free schools and medical care in Haiti.

Haitians hate Bahamians and openly disrespect our country. Why the hell should we pay to care for them?

Now this jackass PLP government is heaping VAT tax on the shoulders of poor Bahamians to pay for illegal Haitians?

We already have no jobs, our power is off, our phones are off, our water is off, we are losing our homes, we are losing our business's, we are losing our cars, we cannot afford medical bills and cannot access government medical care because of dam stinking Haitians.....HELL NO!

Where are the disincentives for Haitians to enter the country illegally?

Where are the laws punishing people for hiring illegals? Why are illegals allowed to enroll children in our school system free of charge without fear of immigration followup on weather their parents/guardians are legally here? Why are pregnant illegals allowed to clog our hospitals and clinics with no fear of deportation?

Haitians are dragging our country down to Haiti's failed state level with the full blessing of government who plan to grant citizenship to thousands of them in exchange for votes in the next general elections.

Go to hell Mitchell and take your big head chief idiot Perry Christie with you.

Dr. Andrea Rollins is 100% correct. The country is in desperate need of new leadership as the jackass leaders we have now are NOT REPRESENTING the will of Bahamians!

daTruth 11 years, 5 months ago on Pastor: God doesn't make same-sex marriage a right

Don't know where to begin with this dinosaur.

“The fabric of our society is based upon Christian principles." - are these the same Christian principles that see our brothers robbing, shooting and killing each other every night? Taking away that precious gift of life without a second thought? Those same Christian principles that are embodied by many married men committing adultery and neglecting their outside children yet sitting up in these same churches on a Sunday praising the Lord God Almighty? What about the members of your congregations who are giving and tithing (10% - HA!) to the Church but who are offering up larger sums Monday to Saturday at the illegal web shops waiting for their numbers to drop?

“The minute our Christian country begins to accept and to accommodate these types of behaviour, which in my view is going to eventually happen, all it means is that it weakens the fabric of the nation,” - The Bahamas will eventually accept, accommodate and end discrimination against ALL of its citizens so why don't we look at pushing that Agenda NOW to build up and strengthen the fabric of our country - a country that we can be proud of!

Scavella our beautiful country may have been built and founded on Christian principles but The Bahamas has NOT been a Christian nation for a long time and your bigoted interview above does nothing but prove that you are truly not a man of God.

Bahamianpride 11 years, 5 months ago on Religious leader says homosexuality 'a massive deception'

Agreed with Tal, Jesus=love. On another note why is he not as passionate about the dysfuntions going on in the church and our general society. The Pastors sleeping around, pimps in the pulpits or the general hypocracy u get from religious people these days. Considering his status on the world stage, u would think he would consistantly express outraged about the 84 murders, hundreds of robberries, burglaries, assualts, sex crimes, thefts and the list goes on. How about the poverty and the multitude of kids born out of wedlock to some deadbeat dad or married man. You see the problem is Christians or religious people cannot throw stones at these people because our house is not even made out of glass, its made out of toilet paper. At the end of the day he can say whatever he wants because he will always be living good, eating steak and drinking wine, while the rest of us are worried about eating, paying bills & not being a crime victim. He lives under top level security and can live in beautiful enviroments anywhere in the world so he does not have to deal with the struggles and suffering of many Bahamians. What all the problems we have in this country this event does not even show up on my radar..I don't have the luxury of worrying about this non threatening event, I'm to focused on protecting my family, staying alive and providing financially. Lastly i have never walked in Grants, Bain town or any area worried about some gay or transgender individual robbing, assualting or killing me.

I would really like for the journalists reporting on these crimes to follow up with more information. I think it's important for the public to know whether these are now random shootings where guys are joyriding and shooting for the hell of it, or are the people being shot involved in gangs or related to gang members or awaiting trial or witnesses or former prisoners. it's important for the public to differentiate because if these are truly random shooting sprees then we are in much worse condition as a society than we are acknowledging and there is little hope in taking down the perpetrators of these crimes. Personally, I would prefer a short paragraph that says 7 former gang members shot over the w/end, without giving much credence to the crime, and more detail on the crimes where the victims are complete innocent victims.

Yes I am. I like Dr Sands. He impressed me from the time I saw his contribution on the night of the referendum debate. He never rose to Daryl Miller's hysterics, he was calm, measured and SENSIBLE, on the fly! In general he always has well thought out statements to issues affecting the country. Very impressive. Since he is running for deputy I'm hoping some of his characteristics aid Dr Minnis.

SP, there are many that are in the process of doing just that. There is no future in this country for those that are not connected to politics and willing to compromise themselves. If the parents are not able to get out they are scraping the money together to send their children off with the hopes they stay. What awaits an honest, hardworking, intelligent, person who has experienced the real world in this cesspool called the Bahamas? Crime, corruption, nepotism, dirt, high taxes with no return, and the negatives just keep piling up. Unless something drastic happens The Bahamas holds no prospects for a reasonable life to most with half a brain.

GrassRoot 11 years, 4 months ago on Minister urges Bahamians not to give in to hysteria

Emac, "when we speak out we are perceived to be xenophobic". I firmly believe that if a country and its people are pride of their land, food, heritage it can not be xenophobic, unless you act, speak and mean all of this exclusive of others. If we Bahamians think we are better or closer to God than the Haitians (or anybody else) that would be a wrong exceptionalism and xenophobic. I do believe if our nation was strong, thriving, full of energy, jobs and good emotions, we would not have an immigration problem. The issue is, we act fearful, exclusive and angry, because we are afraid that someone is trying to take away what we have (or the Government is promising us). So here is the thing, we need to stop getting illegals to the islands, we need to determine which ones we want, we can use (yes we can be selfish) and that can help us build our nation and the others need to be sent home. We however also have to apply a sense of humanity. Don't send back children, that don't have any concept of a home other than the Bahamas. Keep them, raise them, show them the right way, how to work hard to build a Better Bahamas.

Personally, I dont think this clown is sorry for what he said at all. I think he is more afraid of the repercussion of his statement. They were already burning our flags during our Independence celebration. They already don't have no respect for the people of this country or the laws of the land. However, he knows and I will say to the reading public, that this clown has already put the idea into his Haitian brothers and sisters head to riot against the citizens of the Bahamas in the near future. This clown whom later said that he has never been to Haiti and was born here in the Bahamas, should be grateful for us giving him a life rather than encouraging his country men to break the law. Damn, if we let the Haitians do what they want to do with this country, then we should let the Chinese, the Jamaicans and every other nationality who wants to run a muck of this great beautiful Bahamaland. But If people think that clown was joking or regretful of what he said, they tell a lie, and like he said, "there is more of them than there are of us, and we're not scared", which means he know that he have an army of Haitians that is ready to attack us. They break the law, we didnt, and to be honest, some of them live and get more benefits from this country than those whom are raw-bone Bahamians. Some of them squat on people's land and live free, build shacks and run electrical cords, but pay no light build, farm, so they can spend less money in the food stores, by the way, they pay from their own kind. The benefits they get into this country, I cant get and will not get if I go to Haiti. Gad damn, they wouldnt even give me the chance to squart no where. I'm no PLP and I'm not FNM,, but I will say that this problem we having stems from the round table deal that was made between the Haitian President and Hubert Ingram whom helped funded the FNM's election. Then you get the group of corrupt politicians from both sides, selling votes and illegally registering undocumented nationals into this country for votes. All they wanted was to get into office, but they wasnt thinking once they gave these barbarians documents, they wouldnt be able to take it back. Then you have Perry Christie whom doesnt know his ass from his elbow dancing around celebrating the Chinese god Buddha and selling out his share of the country to the Chinese people as they sit back and laugh at us "Silly Bahamians" as they consider us. Bahamians watch out? Bahamians watch out, stand up and speak out? Bahamians, if we take these seemingly simple things as simple things, devastation is going to quietly creep up on us like a thief in the night. Bahamians, this is our land, and we the people, have no where else to go. We wouldnt be able to run to Haiti, Jamaica or even the United States if this land is taken away from us.

So very sad and so scary. Who is safe in this land if they can bust down doors, which is very noisy and still come in after they are told that the homeowner has a gun? And Dr. Nottage says they will introduce more programs, what a joke! This is a serious national problem that they need to call an immediate enclave of intelligent professionals, local and foreign experts to come up with a NEW solution. I don't want to hear about more police cars, more hired officers, more overtime etc. THey don't stop people from getting killed. we need DRASTIC measures. We might have to curtail certain freedoms like in war time, but aren't we living in a war zone now?
