FLORIDA Governor Ron DeSantis again said he would flatten The Bahamas in a hypothetical war –– this time explaining it would take only 12 hours to get the job done.
Despite criticism from Bahamians, Mr DeSantis, who is running to be president of the United States, has said he would decimate The Bahamas if it ever bombed his state.
His comment has come when justifying Israel’s behaviour in its war with Hamas.
His latest comment came during a campaign trip to Manchester, New Hampshire, over the weekend.
“If someone was firing missiles from The Bahamas into, like, Fort Lauderdale, we would never accept that,” he said. “We would flatten. Anything that happened, it would be done like literally within 12 hours, it would be done.”
Prime Minister Philip “Brave” Davis said in November that he believes Mr DeSantis’ continued references to The Bahamas show he is misinformed.
“We rely on the US to assist us in the event of any sort of invasion on us,” Mr Davis said, “so I think he’s obviously misguided, and he needs to step back, look at what our relationship is, and he ought to realise that in the state of Florida, you have more Bahamian diaspora that’s engaged in a political landscape there than ever and he should speak to them to understand what our true relationship is because I don’t think he’s familiar with the relationship.”
Bahamians have also reacted bitterly to Mr DeSantis’ comment, noting the implausibility of The Bahamas attacking Florida.
Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Nassau has downplayed his remarks, noting the close relationship between the US and this country.

You mean we only have enough Conch Shells and Beer Bottles to hold out for 12 hours … well mudda take sick … what about our savvy, albeit starving K-9 Division … surely it would take more than a couple of Buckets of KFC to subdue our Potcakes … not to mention our resident Machete wielding Mercenary Force from the South … surely their loyalty would not be compromised in time of crisis … alas if all else fails in our strategic self defense planning of the past 50 years, at least, unlike Barbados, we can call on the King to save us, much like Guyana is currently now doing … God Save the King 🇬🇧

the sad irony is that if it did happen it would be some terrorist group like Hamas or North Korea and then every single innocent Bahamian and everyone else living in this god's country would then pay the consequences and the USA would play right into the hands of the terrorists giving them exactly what they wanted - a new war and more suffering. Hamas wants death and pain and they got it, Israel and USA are responding exactly as intended to escalate and cause more death and pain of countless innocent lives.

It seems DeSantis has become aware that the Davis and Christie led PLP governments have signed one two many agreements of the wrong kind with the Chinese Communist Party. Not good!
