POLICE are investigating an accident that left a 58-year-old Eleuthera taxi driver dead.
The accident happened around 3.30pm on Monday on Rainbow Bay Road, Eleuthera.
Police were told by an unknown caller that he just heard what sounded like a car breaking, “then a loud bang”.
The man said he went to see what the noise was and discovered the body of a man lying face down in the road about 50ft from a vehicle.
Police say the driver, who sources identify as Alvin Cash, was driving a 1998 burgundy Oldsmobile north on Rainbow Bay Road, headed toward Hatchet Bay, when he lost control of the car.
Sources also say there were about 440ft of brake marks on the road near the scene.
Active investigations are continuing.
In other crime news, police are searching for a man responsible for robbing a business on Carmichael Road on Monday.
Police say around 6.45am a masked armed man wearing blue jeans, a red shirt and a gray jacket with a diamond design on the shoulder, entered the establishment and demanded cash.
He made off with an undetermined amount of cash and an employee’s jewellery.
