FNM South Eleuthera MP Theo Neilly said he stands with party leader Dr Hubert Minnis, who was named and barred from two House of Assembly meetings yesterday.

Speaking to The Tribune, Mr Neilly noted that during the heated House session, he refused to allow police officers to “push him around” because he was elected to represent Bahamians.

He said: “I was a member sitting in my seat and the police did everything they could to remove me and get around me. Certainly I would not fight back but I was not going to let them push me around.

“I was elected to that seat by the people of the Bahamas and I have every right to sit in the House of Assembly.

“I was not only standing in support of my leader (Dr Hubert Minnis) but I stand for democracy, what’s right and what’s just.

“Democracy has to prevail and at the end of the day that is what I was elected to do.”
