Beef patties exported to the Bahamas have been recalled

BEEF patties which were exported to the Bahamas have been recalled by the Florida company which made them.

Pride Foods, a Raiford, Florida, establishment, is recalling approximately 116,404 pounds of beef pattie and chub products because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.

The products contain soy, a known allergen which is not declared on the labels.

The products subject to recall include:

10-lb. cases of 3, 4, and 6 oz. “Savory Beef Patties.” These products were exported to the Bahamas and distributed throughout the Caribbean.

10-lb. cases of 4 oz. “Beef Patties.” This product was exported to the Bahamas and distributed throughout the Caribbean.

The products bear the establishment number “EST. 18506” inside the USDA Mark of Inspection. All products were produced between Dec. 1, 2012, and Aug. 27, 2013.

The problem was discovered by an FSIS inspector during a routine label review before export. The problem is believed to have occurred due to an oversight after using a unique label for one customer. The products contain Textured Vegetable Protein that is formulated with soy. Soy was not reflected on the products’ labels.

FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

Well most Bahamians dont read labels anyway and while this may have been just a case of mislabelling how much contaminated food or food otherwise unfit for human consumption is "dumped" in the Bahamas? What aboout the grits and chips and cereal that has "export only" marked on the label? These products are allegedely made from genetically altered grain that has not yet been approved for human consumption. Some of this grain has pesticides "built in to the grain" to avoid being attacked by pests while still in the field. The effects of human consumption have not yet been determined. Hence it is not permitted to be sold in the US for human consumption. In fact it was only approved for the manufacture of bio fuels. Recently China rejected tonnes of animal feed containing genetically altered grain. China claims that they were not informed of the contents. And what about contaminated meats. Recently ribs purchased from a local food store had mold spots on the underside the size of quarters. When the meat was returned to the store, management treated it as if was not an unusual situation. In fact some meat in the store was as green as gucomoli but persons were lined up to buy it.Where are the health inspectors? Then fried chicken purchased from a local eatery was covered with a white web like type substance. This was ddtermined to be FLY EGGS! But despite the customer having a reciept and pointing out the employee who served her the food, the management tried to deny that the food was bought from the establishment. Consumption of flies eggs will cause severe stomach cramps along with other symptoms When these eggs hatch in the victims intestine they turn to maggots and proceed to feed. Guess what on?
