A POLICEMAN found himself before a magistrate yesterday accused of breaking into his girlfriend‘s home and battering her.

Police Constable 3218 Cedric Rolle, 30, of Central Pines, Abaco, was not required to enter a plea to either the burglary or causing harm charge he faced when called before Magistrate Andrew Forbes of court no.8.

Magistrate Forbes informed Rolle that he, according to the particulars of the offences, intentionally and unlawfully broke into the home of Okita Parks on May 20 with intent to commit a crime.

The magistrate further told the accused that it was also claimed that he had caused harm to Whitney Thomas.

As the court no longer has the jurisdiction to grant bail on the charge of burglary, Constable Rolle was denied bail and is to appear in court on July 9 when his case is expected to be forwarded to the Supreme Court for trial.

Magistrate Forbes added that Rolle had the right to apply for bail to the Supreme Court, but would be remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until that time.

He added that he would speak to the prison authorities to make arrangements for the policeman’s security while awaiting trial.

The officer has retained Lennox Coleby to defend him.

Start teaching the five year olds about conflict resolution. Teach them straight up to high school. They won't forget it when their girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband/friend/enemy do "X"

Wow wasn't aware of that, no bail for burglary..could be the right thing. But if they're now refusing bail for burglary they need to do something with that prison quick. Like today. You can't cram people into subhuman conditions and expect them to come out and act like human beings

I agree........... there's just too much domestic abuse taking place in our country ............. regardless of social class, profession or gender. That's why we have such high crime rates and social dysfunction
