A MAN on bail for a double homicide is in police custody in connection with the shooting death of an off-duty police officer on Thursday night.
According to reports, the 31- year- old suspect, who was recently released on bail, was arrested shortly after the officer – last night identified by his family as Sergeant 1475 Wayne Rolle attached to the Central Detective Unit (CDU) - was gunned down in a vehicle.
Police say they received reports around 7pm of a shooting off Montrose Avenue. When officers arrived, they found the lifeless body of an off-duty officer slumped over the driver’s seat of a dark coloured jeep. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police say a “female companion” of the victim was in the car at the time of the shooting but she was unharmed.
In a statement Sgt Rolle’s family thanked well wishers for their concern but asked for privacy to grieve.
“The Rolle Family wishes to thank well-wishers for its support during the tragic death of our brother Sergeant 1475 Wayne Rolle. As we struggle to deal with this devastating loss to our family, we ask that persons respect our privacy and provide us space to grieve. Persons who have information that they believe is helpful to resolving this homicide should direct that information to the CDU. We have every confidence in the Royal Bahamas Police Force,” the statement read.
Police say they have no motive for the murder.
Sgt Rolle was one of two murder victims on Thursday and became the country’s 113th homicide for the year, according to the Tribune’s records.

On bail! The courts are setting these killers free and the public is being terrorized by the criminals who have no fear or respect for life. If they do not respect our life why should we respect theirs? HANG THEM HIGH!

In the U.S., there is no bail if you are charged with murder. Why do we just turn loose a guy who faced enough evidence that he was charged wth TWO murders? Are we simply stupid?

There must be a motive here ........ a CDU officer sitting in a car with a "female companion" shot dead by a guy out on bail for a double murder charge ................ thats three motives

The problem is too much guns. Truth be told, on any given day you come across individuals you feel the urge to kill. Someone ran me off the road and then give me the finger is enough for me to "let off a couple of shots". The difference is that I don't have a gun. A way to keep murderers off the street is to charge them with a lesser crime initially and then while they are serving time you can build your case for murder. While they are serving ten years for gun possession, they will also be waiting for their murder case to come up making bail a mute point.

Charged with double murder and out on bail,this same scenario day in and day out murderers out on bail killing people.Is this the new strategy that Dr.Nottage was talking about seems the same to me with the same results.

I have concluded that our MPs simply do not want their constituents locked up for murder and rape so they (who are mostly lawyers) do everything in their power to rig the system to protect these animals.
