THE FNM has condemned the Government following the termination of veteran broadcaster Christina "Chrissy" Love from the Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas, this Monday.
In a statement released by the FNM yesterday, the party took sides with Ms Love in accusing the PLP of victimisation.
"How quickly the PLP has returned to its old ways," the statement read. "The Christie Government has launched its victimisation campaign. Broadcast personality Chrissy Love has ben fired from her morning talk show on the ZNS Network.
"We condemn this rank discrimination and victimisation of a Bahamian professional who has made significant contribution to her profession."
The FNM claimed Prime Minister Perry Christie had previously spoke about his abhorrence of victimisation mere "days" before election.
They said Mr Christie dismissed allegations a PLP Government would fire public corporation employees.
"He has stated that no Government of his would allow such victimisation," the FNM said. "We call on the Prime Minister to stop the victimisation of Chrissy Love.
"This unwarranted and uncalled termination of Chrissy Love shows clearly that the PLP neither believes in Bahamians nor are for Bahamians."
The Opposition also noted they are monitoring other "possible examples of intimidation" by PLP supporters.
Ms Love claimed on Monday as she went into work, a producer stopped her and said the General Manager needed to speak with her.
According to Ms Love, who hosted "Immediate Response," her management told her they decided to invoke Paragraph 13 of her agreement with them.
Paragraph 13 of her contract stipulated either party could terminate the deal with one month's notice.
"Perry Christie said victimisation had ended in the Bahamas, but I beg to differ. I'm kinda' lost as to what their reasoning is," Ms Love said.
She added: "It is their right, but it was handled poorly. If this is what we get from the PLP in week one, I shudder to think what will happen in 60 months."
A statement released by the Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas on Monday said the separation was "mutual".
The statement read: "The Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas announced today that it has mutually agreed with Ms Christina 'Chrissy Love', host of radio show, Immediate Response, to end their contractual agreement. The Corporation wishes to remind the public that it is committed to ensuring that it provides listeners with public service programming that sets the bar for professional broadcast quality."
National Security Minister Dr Bernard Nottage and Minister of State Keith Bell did not respond to requests for comment following Ms Love's claims.

Do the FNM opposition really have enough elected MP"s to ask Queen Liz to be her loyal opposition? didn't think so. If their leader "in waiting" Hubert were to take their victimization cries to court, even the Judges once loyal to them would have to laugh them out of the court room. Have these handful of MP's have no shame at all?

Blah Blah Blah could have asked the same question in 97 when the PLP won a whopping 5 seats out of 40. But then maybe you might not have been born yet so you would not have known about that little fact.

Handful or not...they are the opposition and they are using their voice, as they should, to raise concern over inappropriate political behavior i.e. their job, their purpose! Chrissy Love's dismissal is a result of political victimization. Plain and simple. No matter what party you represent,a spade is a spade.
Ms. Love, keep your head up, launch your own radio station.

AS A BAHAMAIN who is a plp surpporter i am a shame that as soon as the plp win they PUT A BAHAMAIN OUT OF WORK because of dfference point of view i was hoping that this government would deepen our democracy,and i dont want to here about steve and lady russell because this is supposed to be a new day (BELIEVING IN BAHAMAIN) what a way to start.TWO WRONGS DONT MAKE A RIGHT. Many of us in South Florida tune into 810AM, on weekday mornings, just to hear the refreshing and outspoken perspective of Chrissy Love.
What I'm hearing now on ZNS is dull, dull, dull and listenership will go down, down, down.
What seems to have happened censorship pure and simple.
