POLICE are investigating the death of a 31-year-old father of two who was killed at Irish Springs Close off John Chipman Street on Saturday.
According to police, the victim was involved in an argument with two other men shortly after 10.30pm when he was shot.
The two suspects fled the area in a white Honda while the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released his identity but The Tribune understands he is Alexander Carey aka Coey.
He is the 12th person killed this year, according to The Tribune’s records.
According to a police source, Carey was recently acquitted of the May 2011 murder of Ahmed Babbs. At the time of his death, Babbs was on bail for allegedly shooting Carey a month earlier.
Carey’s death came a day after 20-year-old Teon Adderley was killed early Friday morning in the Mount Royal Avenue area.
Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle yesterday said police are investigating both murders but have no leads at the moment.
Adderley was shot dead around 7am after two men in a white Honda approached him. One man got out of the vehicle and shot him multiple times.
He was sitting on a wall on Clinton Street at the time.
The 20-year-old was a forklift operator and the oldest of three siblings.
In other crime news, police are investigating an incident in which a man was shot shortly after 1am Sunday in the area of a resort in western New Providence. Another man was also shot around 3pm in the Pinewood Gardens area on Sunday, however his injuries were not life threatening police said.

Tribune242, please be more investigative in your reporting. Every drive by shooting it is reported that the vehicle in question was a white Honda. If we have information of the vehicle's MAKE, then which model is the HONDA? Honda make several vehicles...the Pilot, the Ridgeline, the Civic, the City, the Accord...etc. which model of vehicle was it? was it 2 door or 4 door, or 5 door? was it a Honda truck or car. Which year range was the vehicle 2017, 2000, or a 1980 Honda. There should be more information if at least the white Honda is showing up at all of these murders. Please improve on reporting this type of information. Assist the public through your reporting so that we can assist the police by supplying info to the TIPS line.

Why don't we just invite all the armed hoodlums in New Providence to a "Last Man Standing" event at the Sports Stadium? Allow them to arm themselves to the teeth and we can even throw in some of the hand grenades recently acquired by the government. At the end of a one hour free for all, the last man standing can have his ankle bracelet removed as a reward for a job well done and get his portrait hung in the airport's hall of fame.

So did anyone notice that the murder count for January 2016 is DOWN by 7 under last year's January when 15 murders were officially recorded? That is a FORTY SEVEN PERCENT DECREASE!!! But while that is good news, and despite the murder rate still being too high, February does not seem to fare too well. Last year 8 murders were recorded in February, but four has already been recorded this year with 20 days left in the month. But not to overlook the 47% decrease in murders in January. Go thank your minister of national security. Encourage him and maybe the count will stay under 100 this year. Together we can or can we?
