RBDF squad celebrates 21 years of service with donation to GCM

MEMBERS of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force entry 34 squad recently made a donation to Great Commission Ministries.

As the squad celebrated 21 years of service, current and past members of that squad observed the occasion by assisting GCM. A non-government organisation founded in 1987 by its president, Bishop Walter Hanchell, GCM assists the poor, needy and homeless by providing shelter, feeding centres, food banks and drug rehabilitation.

On Friday June 12, the team of officers and marines made a financial contribution to representatives from that organisation at its location on Wulff Road. Receiving the cheque on behalf of Great Commission Ministries was Maxine Bethel, office manager.

Lieutenant Shawn Evans, spokesperson for Entry 34, said: “We saw the need within the community to render assistance, especially during this COVID pandemic. We hope that the impact will be felt in a place that caters to the whole man. We choose this organisation because of their longstanding and unwavering service to this country.”

The men of Entry 24 enlisted in the Royal Bahamas Defence Force on June 7, 1999. There are currently 21 serving members on the squad.
