CAROLINE Moncur, the Australian Honorary Consul in the Bahamas, organised a ceremony to commemorate the centenary of ANZAC Day at a private residence in Nassau on Saturday. As well as Australian and New Zealand citizens in the Bahamas, guests included Captain Tellis Bethel, Acting Commander of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Josef Hermanns, Honorary Consul for Germany, Dorothy Baker, Protocol Co-ordinator of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, and representatives of the Bahamas branch of the Royal British Legion, including Matthias Munroe, Percy Strachan, Cephas Ferguson and Adina Munroe.
Tegwen Hunt-Hastedt gave opening remarks, Jodie Cable-Treadwell read a poem, readings were by Graham Hastedt and Michelle Edwards and there was a commemorative address by Peter Young, former British High Commissioner to The Bahamas. Mr Ferguson read the Ode of Remembrance on behalf of the British Legion and laid wreaths with Capt Bethel, Mr Young and Mr Hermanns. Ivan Carey played the Last Post.
