I agree and disagree. I am a Bahamian Citizen. TECHNICALLY I don't need to carry around ANY form of ID...if I get pulled over for a traffic violation, I have 24 hours to present my drivers license to the necessary police station...and that's just my driver license. So if I do not carry that around, I will most definitely NOT be carrying around my passport, or proof of citizenship papers, so I get pulled over, have no ID and no proof of residency, and I am going to get hauled off to the detention centre...yeah, I have a problem with that. I understand what they are TRYING to do, round up some illegals, but it is a very slippery slope.

Like I said elsewhere, did Parliament pass a law stating that Bahamians, and others residing in the Bahamas, must carry official government approved ID with them at all times? I didn't get the memo. Sounds like something from apartheid South Africa where you had to have your ID/papers to move about your own country. If government wants us to carry ID they better make it a law otherwise THEY ARE WRONG.

Make sense to me. Bahamians often complain about the illegal immigration situation. Now a new tactic has been exercise now some of these same Bahamians have a problem with it. They properly have forged documents. Hats off to the Immigration Officers and continue to do your jobs and to persons who have a problem can suck a lemon.
