Minnis heckled outside House

FORMER Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis was heckled and taunted by a small group of Progressive Liberal Party supporters as he walked into the House of Assembly yesterday.

They gathered on Parliament Street after PLP Chairman and Cabinet Minister Fred Mitchell issued a call to supporters to come out to the public square to defend Prime Minister Philip “Brave” Davis after Dr Minnis last week used strong language to rebut allegations made against his administration.

Last Thursday Dr Minnis told The Tribune: “It’s a stupid and immature statement, an irresponsible statement to be made by any prime minister and I can’t wait to get in Parliament to buss his a-- and their a-- for talking stupidness.”

In the House of Assembly yesterday morning, Dr Minnis said it was true that he wrote a letter to the police asking for additional security. “It is true that I wrote a letter to the commissioner,” the Killarney MP said. “What is also true is that such a letter was leaked to a PLP social media group and it could not come from even my lawyer because I made amendments to the letter that nobody knew other than I, but yet it appeared on social media.”

His request for additional police protection was sparked by Mr Mitchell’s message to PLPs to protect the prime minister.

“I invite all PLPs to the public square this Wednesday and show Hubert Minnis who might get their a—- barked if he fools with Prime Minister Philip Davis on Wednesday as he promises to,” Mr Mitchell told supporters in a voice note on Monday.

Those PLPs were also met by a small group of Free National Movement supporters who came out to back Dr Minnis yesterday.

This is pure intimidation plan and simple. Fred Mitchell should arrested by the police for seeking to incite violence.

A man just wrote a song about Christie and got arrested. Mitchell calling out people to come bark at a sitting Parliamentarian, whether you like him or not, it plainly wrong. But that is what happens when you have gutter politicians in positions of authority.

Nothing more than diversion tactics. Seems to happen around budget time. Either when the budget has no substance or is loaded with more taxes on the Bahamian people. And speaking of taxes, as the government is gearing up its machinery to wring more taxes out of the Bahamian people even after two years of economic and social doom and gloom, what plans do government have to garner more revenue/taxes from cruise ships and their passengers? The ships are getting bigger and bigger and offering more and more amenities and tge passengers are leaving the ships led and less. So the cruise ships are raking in billions with cabins, casinos, bars, theme parks, swimming pools and other entertainment. Government must seek to raise the revenue from cruise ships. And don’t forget how much waste water they dump in the ocean. The newest cruise ship can carry 7,000 guest passengers and 3.000 crew. Ten Thousand people. With one flush a day that is 10,000 flushes. Now add the shower water and kitchen waste. Eric Carey says something is rapidly killing out the coral reefs. He call it’s ‘the corona of the sea’ but it posed a major danger to sea life. Is this country will. To trade it’s fishing industry to an increasing cruise ship industry and not collect and tangible benefits from it?

doc Minnis promised to break members of the PLP backside more than once. He also asked Dr Darville to come in front of him to say what he had said.

So far he has threatened three times

He should be taken seriously.

but he has issues that after the third threat there is a reaction

All of you "politicians" and "political propagandists" need to stop these continual deflection antics; nothing of substance for 6 months. Both parties are guilty of this incensing foolishness, and the idiotic Bahamian masses--the ones who seem not able to discern, swallow hook-line-and-sinker, every time.
