Protesting BEC workers have taken their third day of demonstrations to the front of the Superclubs Breezes where Prime Minister Perry Christie is attending the opening of the International Development Bank's Caribbean Growth Forum.

BEC workers have been demanding the reinstatement of a fired employee who was dismissed from the corporation by chairman Leslie Miller. Minister of Labour Shane Gibson has called for all workers to return to work, warning that any industrial action could lead to fines of up to $10,000 or jail time of up to two years.

How come the public is not on leslie to look at fuel bill, that is outrageous, bec rents power from someone, who why not address these things 1st, i am upset too at high overtime but i figure you address bigger issues. It seems like i broke, hmm what do i do, i pay my sweetheart 500 perweek, and i pay 5 perday for my children lunch, let me see these children fat any way limme cut they lunch money, oh and cuss me wife while i doing it. Or is it that these big things can't be touched because who reaps from it, i blame workers at bec for not bring this to light.

Leslie Miller paid his BEC bill!.

And you talk about being upset about "high overtime"?. I have 2 Mortgages to pay every month, one to the Bank and the bigger amount to BEC!. I now have to try to buy a generator, cause I know this summer, and year, will be utter hell, more hell than other years, where BEC cuts my power off almost every day in the heat of summer. But I can't afford a generator. The Bahamian people are waiting for action by Mr. Gibson, and Mr. Miller, I would vote for you as next Prime Minister, cause you are a man of action!

After 3 days of being off the job to demonstrate, will those BEC workers salaries be cut? The Union is an evil instrument.

We are reaping what we have sewn. As an outsider looking in, I see well paid individuals that work in very comfy air conditioned offices with most things needed to do a good job. I see staff in nice uniforms and A/C vehicles. I see people who have nice insurance and health plans. I did not mention paid vacations and who knows what ever else!! Who is suppose to pay for all of that? Not even funny!! They need to relax and try to get the entire government to take a small cut from everyone inclusive of themselves. Suggestion only.
