HOUSING Minister Kenred Dorsett said it was tragic that once again the city dump is on fire again this afternoon. The blaze is sending clouds of smoke into the air covering the south west of the island.
At the scene of the blaze, Minister of the Environment and Housing Ken Dorsett said it was "frustrating."
He told members of the media that the Cabinet was already looking at various measures with respect to the dump, but failed to provide specific details.
Firefighters are at the scene, working at containing the blaze.

Cabinet is looking at this? No wonder there are no specific details since the PM views environmental concerns as "foolishness".

These dump fires have plagued the health of Bahamians for years now and no doubt have contributed to the demise of countless of our brothers and sisters. No white man would inflict this kind of harm and injury on his fellow man no matter what colour they may be. Sadly we are what we are and will continue to be so for as long as we go to the polls come election time and vote the monkey branded either PLP or FNM......same difference!

This is now an annual event that happens at least once or twice a year. Both the PLP and the FNM governments have always promised to fix the problem when it is happening. But as soon as the "horse is out of the barn" and the fires are out, it is ignored. It is disgraceful that we Bahamians should have to inhale this unhealthy air. It appears that the Government has no intentions of attending to this problem as it could have been solved years ago. It is time we Bahamians descend on Rawson Square. The government must take serious action for this unfortunate event and we Bahamians must push them to act and act on this immediately.

This is almost a hallmark signature when the PLP government is in power, to look to the south west of Nassau and see large plumes of thick, black smoke or to wake up in the mornings struggling to breathe. It does not happen as often under he FNM governmnt

At least the former government was working on it, they had another 5 year plan, but we are such illiterate and uninformed electorate, that we voted out a Government that was doing good for the entire country! Lets give credit where it is due.

When will Bahamians realize that the PLP and FNM parties are both responsible for so many of the wrongs committed against our society and for the decline of our country? The politicians in these two political parties are owned and controlled by their greedy business cronies who financially support (bribe?) them in exchange for political favours of one kind or another that typically have a very negative impact on our society and country as a whole. For decades now the FNM and PLP alike have wittingly or unwittingly promoted policies aimed at creating a majority underclass of illiterate, unquestioning and undiscerning voters. The unchecked wreckage of our country's finances by both the FNM and PLP has resulted in most Bahamians struggling to meet their basic daily needs against the backdrop of ever rising food and utility costs, a failed educational system and a failing health care system. TRUTH BE TOLD, THE ENTIRE BAHAMAS WILL SOON GO UP IN SMOKE IF BAHAMIANS DO NOT FREE THEMSELVES FROM THE FAILED POLICIES OF THE PLP AND FNM! These two political parties deserve nothing but a quick death....they have together done more harm to our country than the old UBP could or would have ever done!
