UPDATE: Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating two suspects in connection with the multiple homicide that occurred near the Fox Hill Park.
The first suspect is 27–year-old Amal Hunter, AKA “BOW” of Williams Lane off Kemp Road.
Hunter is described as a slim built male of a brown complexion, about 5’ 10” in height.
The second suspect is 25 – year old Carlos Colebrooke, AKA “SKULLER” of Williams Street, Nassau Village. Colebrooke is described as a medium built male of a dark brown complexion, about 5’ 10” in height.

THREE men and one woman were killed “execution style” and four others were seriously injured in a drive-by shooting at Freedom Park in Fox Hill last night.
Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade said the shooting occurred shortly before 6pm when the occupants of a small dark vehicle opened fire “with a variety of weapons” in the area just behind the basketball court.
“We are satisfied that this is the case, based upon the evidence we have discovered on the scene in terms of spent casing and projectiles,” Mr Greenslade said.
“Unfortunately, as a result of gunfire, eight persons were shot and seriously injured, one adult male was killed at the scene, three others died at the hospital, two adult males and one female. This is very, very tragic for the community and the country. We have recovered the vehicle that was on the scene.”
The Big T understands that one of the men who was killed was a member of the Davis family, owners of the Jungle Club which is located within the crime scene. Another family member is believed to be injured.
Mr Greenslade appealed to anyone with information to contact police.
The commissioner, who was accompanied to the scene by his entire executive team, said: “I am going to remain in Fox Hill tonight and we are going to ensure that these people in the community can go to their beds tonight despite the heavy grief on their hearts. We offer our condolences to the families affected by this senseless incident.
“We have to stop this. We have been arresting young Bahamian men, and in many cases women, until we are blue in the face, in possession of illegal firearms of many descriptions – pistols, handguns, AK-47s. And notwithstanding their arrests and taking them to court, many of these people are back in our communities reoffending. They seem not to be afraid of the system.”
Mr Greenslade said that a line has to be drawn in the sand.
“And I really believe that we are going to have to do that tonight,” he said.
“Unfortunately, we cannot bring these four people back, whom we have no reason to believe were doing anything wrong tonight. They were simply enjoying a peaceful evening which is their right to do, when people came into this community and left death in their wake. This is totally unacceptable in the Bahamas. This is totally tragic, and we are going to ensure with every ounce of my being that we pursue these people until we find them and bring them to justice.”
Police said they cannot rule out that the shooting is not connected to the Boxing Day murder at Dorsett Street in Fox Hill where a man was hit with multiple bullets fired from a silver coloured four-door Honda.
Dozens of residents stood behind the crime scene tape in shock last night, expressing anger and despair as rumours circulated as to who the victims were. Many who learned that their loved ones may be among the dead screamed in anguish. Others expressed anger at the country’s escalating violence and asked how such a deadly incident could occur in a peaceful community in the early evening.
The murder count for the year now stands at 116.

I like Greenslade but it may be too late for him now. He has turned a blindside to the open sore of the webshops, and despite what he believes, in the eyes of the public, has allowed himself to be severely compromised, why should the drug dealers care about any crooked lines in the sand? No Elliot Nest to see here.
In reference to putting the police out in force, it's just another feel good busy work strategy. It will not stop the murder count, these guys have no concern about being seen, "they don't fear the system", that much is true. Police saturation is a solution for a problem that does not currently exist, it's a strategy geared to addressing problems like looting and general mayhem. What the police really need is intelligence to get to these guys before they unleash their plans, qualified investigators to prepare cases and an effective system for witness protection. The brute force approach does not work, has not worked, they need intelligence.
It would also be a great help if we had competent ethical men leading the govt. Too many of the elected officials are corrupt and clueless about their responsibilities to boot.

strangely enough, the street from freedom park to prince charles is the poor man's las vegas strip
the nice food store that existed there has long closed, and a web shop started, now there are 4-5 on that strip
surely some of this crime has to do with gambling

Tick Tock Tick Tock. You'd think Bahamalanders were demanding ongoing meetings between the PM, Commish of da Policemans and cabinet members in an attempt to solve world crime problems. Every incident of murder, home invasion, robbery, rape and domestic violence are "homegrown." It will take "homegrown" solutions to even begin the long journey of retaking our tiny Bahamaland back from the criminals. Da clock is fast tick'in.

If this government wasn't so scared of frightening away the tourists it would put the country on a war footing. Does the PM not understand that without decisive and ruthless intervention the situation will get even worse and there will be no tourist trade left? We need to start with appointing a crime czar with powers to do whatever it takes to rid the streets of the gang bangers, the drugs, the guns. This will cost serious money and votes but this is what is needed. Unfortunately this administration shows no signs of putting the National Interest ahead of personal power and greed.

This is a problem with no politcal will or competence to solve at this time. The rule of Law does not exist on any level and the people responsible for taking care of problems have constantly demonstrated poor leadership.. Its like watching a circus full of clowns in front of the media.. Police Commissioner can you do me one favor have traffic Officers run the tags of every Honda Accord, Civic etc on the island as it passes them by.. It sames that in 90% of the crimes the Actors are riding in stolen or unregistered Honda vehicles. Engage them, arrest them, take there weapons all day, everyday.. Wait outside the court for them to make bail, run the tags of the vehicle that picks them up because its probably stolen, lock them up again... 2000 + cops is enough to disrupt criminals on an island 21-7 regardless if the court system is broken.. Reason and logic tells me that If your Officers were engaging and arresting armed criminals at the levels u say you are, the majority of armed dangerous criminals would have died already in Police involved shootings. The problem is many Officers are sitting behind desk working bankers hours and a good majority are just as bad as the criminals.. Lastly if the Government is not going to protect the citizens change the laws and allow them the rights necessary to protect themselves..

ThisisOurs, unfortunately good ideas are wasted on these people.. I have even suggested mandatory 2 years millitary training for males 18-26 that are not working full time or enrolled in school.. The streets are flooded with hopeless young men without purpose.. Some are so far gone we cannot save them. My plan is remove at least 40,000 out of the population with mandatory millitary service. Teach them skills and discipline, feed them, house them, educated them. Give them a purpose of protecting the country. This can also be done with non violent, non sexual offenders. I feel if we can reduced the numbers of young men on the street it can at least buy us some time to focus on things like education and family planning as a permanent solution. However people have to reach a point where they say enough with the free turkey and ham, open there eyes and vote the plp and fnm career politicians out of office (which will never happen). Lastly we have to remove self discriminating law that keep our people economically limited and makes upward mobility only available to those born into certain families, or criminals. I only make this suggestion because i don't see the skills, education or economic enviroment at this time that can provide opportunities for all these young people..

we have been doing this w/ overstaffed civil services jobs , 1000 defence force officers , tons of immigration and customs officers , tons of police ,,my goodness there is 350 non uniformed immigration /customs.. personal ,,secretary etc ,,WE have been trying to absorb our prolific baby makeing since the seventies on the gov , payroll and it is breaking the country,,THEN AS WE are raising these children we are verbally and physically abusing them calling it discipline making more and more violent young adults ,,YOU WANT TO SLOW CRIME ,,AFTER A SINGLE MOTHER HAS 2 KIDS ,,TIE HER TUBES ,,AFTER A MAN MAKES 2 BABIES HE HAS NO INTEREST IN RAISING A VASECTOMY ,,SHORT OF THAT CRIME AND POVERTY WILL CONTINUE TO ESCALATE ,,

Comrades will tell you the root cause of lots the crime in we Bahamaland. That damn lead poisoning effect on we brains. The Red Chinese government loves tiny countries who leave the "scientifically proven" facts of led poisoning to da Bahamalanderd brains, go'in unchecked. One day, if also left unchecked, we will see the day when complete Islands in we land will have Chinese manufacturing plants , staffed by low paid Chinese workers. No damn wonder they love we Junkanoo so much for their many novelty products they can produce "with dat dangerous lead" to sell to the unsuspecting tourists. Comrades lead poisoning is no jok'in matter. It serious, yet no member of this or the previous government has ever addressed its dangers to we brains.

Never did understand how someone who intentionally causes harm , or takes another life " deserves" to be defended against the punishment of the crime.. Not logical. Oh well, parents negotiate with their children over their rude actions, so I suppose they expect the same when they become adults and break the law. ( thankfully, all rude children do not turn out to be criminal . Some are upstanding citizens)

Comrades even at a time of such murders and crimes, my words of inspiration we must stay focused for a positive 2014. These too will come to pass. Bring'in in the New Year must remain a joyous occasion filled with family, friends and food. We are a people of changing cultures, traditions, colours, religious observations, foods, customs and rituals. I'll start with me. My New Year's ritual from a little child is to wear a colorful pair of red, white and green undies. The red signifies passion. White for peace and green for money. Come 11:30 on the clock on New Year's Eve night I will have done slipped up me colorful undies.

Here is the scary bit. You could be minding your own business, talking with some friends, or sitting on a wall in Fox Hill, or anywhere, and a car pulls up and sprays you with bullets. Or, you could be minding your business taking a walk, and someone sticks a gun in your face demanding wallet, cell phone and jewelry. And then with the muzzle of the gun in your face, they heartlessly pull the trigger.
Is this the quality of life that we want? Do we want this as an element of our lives? The very fact that someone can kill someone without a thought means that we have a large number of sociopaths in Bahamian society. I do not believe that sociopaths can be cured, and the Chinese have the right idea. Line them up in a public square, put a bullet in the back of their heads, and then send the bill to the family for the bullet.
We can't walk around with blinders on. There is a very large segment of the Bahamian population who are very sick mf'ers and need to be removed from society with extreme prejudice.

Whatever happen to the laws that were passed that say gang leaders can receive fines up to $500,000.00, in addition to jail time, and persons involved in gang activity or participation in gang membership can receive similar sentences and fines So when do they plan to use these laws. They have a known gang leader in jail, who it is claimed is still very active in instructing gang war and other activity. Then other gang leaders and members have been identified so why no one ben charged yet. This the time to attack crime and put persons behind bars without having to collect dead bodied..what happen nah?

All of these criminals have parents somewhere... we have to take a look at where they came from, how they were raised, what they were exposed to from an early age. I cannot blame Perry Christie or Hubert Ingraham for anything my children do. I can't blame Nottage. I would have to blame myself and figure out what did I do wrong as a parent. Did I instill values and morals and common courtesies as a child; Did I do my best to encourage and enhance his or her educational experience. Did I care enough that my child was keeping bad company and I did nothing to stop him/ her from going down the wrong path? Was my child the bad company and I just shrugged it off? You have to bend the tree while it's young. Train up a child in the way he should go. When he is old, he will not depart from it. I am sorry for the parents who have to visit their kids behind bars on Christmas, birthdays and other holidays... But that's a long ride to the prison and a long wait, probably. This interest needs to start from the minute they are out of the womb. Not after they have killed and robbed and assaulted somebody - wreaking havoc in the community. I don't know if that is love to bring your child some dinner while they are in prison... Love starts with not cloaking them when they are wrong, and steering them straight. Where did these crazy people come from who want to shoot up a whole community - without any kind of conscience? It's lunacy. We need to preach into our kids again that they have to say NO to drugs too. Trust me, some of these fellas have already fried their brains. There is nothing left, no feelings, no thought processes and no sense. Satan has a place to reign in an empty brain. Sad.
