Parties say blueprints are ‘in the works’

WITH the 2021 general election less than a month away, major political parties say blueprints of their plans are in the works and will soon be released.

Yesterday, the Progressive Liberal Party said it plans to release its platform on candidates Nomination Day - which is this Friday, August 27.

The party’s Blueprint for Change, which also includes an economic plan, is a vision for a more dynamic, more resilient and more inclusive nation, PLP officials say.

Following the candidate nominations, the PLP will release its blueprint and will also formally introduce all of its candidates whom they said are “ready to make a difference from day one.”

“The country faces very significant challenges, but the current government has never presented the nation with a comprehensive plan to address the health or economic crisis,” the party said. “Instead, we see the same pattern again and again – a failure to plan, then chaos and crisis and then last-minute, insufficient attempts to cope.”

The party also has a plan for its first 100 days in office, The Tribune was told yesterday.

The Free National Movement is also expected in the coming days to make the details public of its five-year plan should it successfully be returned to office.

Can any plans presented please include the substance of HOW the stated purpose will be accomplished? I'm sick and tired of the outlandish "feel good" promises with no content. Bahamians need to stop gobbling up the one liner promises delivered with a KFC chicken thigh and demand the "How they will". I promise, they don't know how. Never have, never will.

Agreed, i fully expect to see promises of hospitals on every street corner, and state of the art schools everywhere. All great, but no talk about to pay for it. I have already seen one party say they would reduce VAT and increase minimum wage, when asked how Government could afford this they said the increased spending by those whose wages have increased would lead to extra Government revenue (whilst no mention that many of those are Government employees so Government would be losing twice). Anyway i expect they all will say whatever it takes to get elected.

If history has shown anything, it is that all political plans change on the first day in office. No matter who gets elected, it's going to be more of the same s**t just packaged in a different box. I am voting independent.

What they need to publish is who paid for all the signs and what they ask for. We saw the first thing the PLP did was try to open some stem cell facility for Nygard and legalize gaming. The FNM did everything it could to sell off BPL, tried to enter some deal to manage govt buildings and of course Oban.

So just tell us where the money come from and we'll have a pretty good idea of the plan

Replacing a defective traffic-light bulb takes three months of planning in Bahamas. Coming up with a plan to fix the economy, healthcare, tourism, education, crime, spousal abuse, discrimination, etc etc etc takes a month. Right!
