Her current boyfriend is purposefully not telling Stefan about his previous relationship with Elena. We know from the Season 5 premiere that Damon is jealous of Elena and Stefan's past and obvious connection. So he decides to omit reminding his brother about their relationship.

In last week's episode Stefan was saved from the bottom of the lake. Though the younger Salvatore brother is back, his memory isn't. In the trailer promo for tonight's episode, him and his older brother Damon are enjoying a few drinks at the bar while they catch up on the last two hundred years. Elena comes by the Mystic Falls Grill to see the two.

Stefan lost his memory and can't remember Elena. He asks for her name, "Remind me of your name again.
