Baptist Basketball League heats up

MACEDONIA Baptist and Temple Fellowship split their head-to-head match-up Saturday as the Baptist Sports Council continued its 2012 Basketball League at Baillou Hills Sporting Complex. In the 15-and-under division, three-time defending champions Macedonia Baptist were stunned by last year's runners-up Temple Fellowship 34-22. While Temple Fellowship stayed undefeated, it was the first loss for Macedonia. But in the men's division, Macedonia returned the favour as they pulled off an impressive 52-33 decision over the defending champions Temple Fellowship. Macedonia remained undefeated with the win and they also doubled up with a 44-40 decision over ENYPD, while Temple Fellowship suffered its first loss. In other games played, ENYPD held off Hope Centre (15-and-under) 29-27, Temple Fellowship knocked off St Mark's (19-and-under) 50-44, Golden Gates nipped BIBA (men) 37-36, Mt Nebo got by St Mark's (19-and-under) 45-42, Hope Centre out-lasted Evangelistic Centre (men) 46-38), Golden Gates def. Church of the Nazarene (men) 38-24, St John's No.1 def. St. John's No.2 (15-and-under) 24-18, Macedonia No.1 blasted Christian Tabernacle (19-and-under) 60-33, Macedonia No.2 held off Golden Gates 33-32 and St Mark's won over St John's (men) 47-44. Here's a summary of the games played: Temple Fellowship 34, Macedonia 22 Edajh Fox scored 14 points and Tamico Coakley added nine in their 15-and-under win. Shamar Burrows had seven in the loss. Macedonia 52, Temple Fellowship 33 Patrick Brice scored 13 points and Delano Knowles added 12 in their men's win. Eugene Bain had 10 and Cruz Simon six in the loss. Macedonia 44, ENYPD 40 Van Hutchinson scored 14 points and Abel Joseph had 13 in their men's win. Kenneth Pratt had a game high 22 and Dario McKenzie eight in the loss. Hope Center 46, Evangelistic Center 38 Devonn Brennen scored 16 points and Henry Burnside added eight in their men's win. Tino Sands had 12 and Chris Sands eight in the loss. Golden Gates 38, Church of the Nazarene 24 Steven Culmer scored 13 points and Khalid Roberts chipped in with 11 in their men's win. Wilnir Noel 12 in a losing effort. Macedonia No.1 60, Christian Tabernacle 33 LeVigi Forbes exploded for a game high 30 points and James Rolle added nine in their 19-and-under win. Leonardo Collie scored 15 and Lloyd Bailey had 11 in the loss. Macedonia No.2 33, Golden Gates 32 Karon Pratt scored 19 points and J'Von Calderon added seven in their 19-and-under win. Dominique Beadle had 11 and Dustin McKenzie seven in the loss. St Mark's 47, St John's 44 Gibson Alcidor scored 18 and Renardo Benson had 13 in their men's victory. Kervan Mortimer had 13 and Jaleel Dames had nine in the loss. Golden Gates 37, BIBA 36 Justin McKenzie and Denny Moxey both had six points in their men's win. Tino Thurston had a game high 13 and AJ Anderson added five in the loss. Mt Nebo 45, St Mark's 42 Dennis Brown scored 18 points and Jamal Miller added 13 in their 19-and-under win. Temple Fellowship 50, St Mark's 44 Randy Miller scored 13 points and Jason Cambridge added eight in their 19-and-under win. Dario Dean had nine in the loss. St John's No.1 24, St John's No.2 18 Jamal Simon scored 11 points and Dwight Wheatley added seven in their 15-and-under win. Brentino Nottage had eight in the loss.
