Bye Bye Astro

By LESH JUST before the results were revealed last Thursday, X-Factor contestants staged a great performance of "Man in The Mirror" to round off Michael Jackson Week. Hearts were racing as the contestants performed in front of the Jackson family: Michael's brothers Tito, Jackie and Marlon. Also in attendance was Michael's mother Katherine, along with his children Prince, Paris and Blanket. The heat was on when the first set of results started rolling in. Melanie Amaro, Rachel Crow and Chris Rene made it safely into the next round. That left Josh Krajcik, Marcus Canty, Astro and Drew to await their results backstage. Astro received the lowest number of votes from fans, so he was immediately eliminated from the show. Standing by Astro was mentor LA Reid, who insisted that Astro has a promising career in the music industry. Astro was one of the biggest fan favourites on the show so his elimination was a shock to many. "There is no way I am watching that show again. I am still in shock that he was sent home. Astro is pure talent," said a Bahamian fan. "Team Astro right here, I will definitely follow up on him. He may be a little arrogant but he has potential," said another. Josh Krajcik, the last contestant in the over 30's category, safely made it through to the next round while Drew and Marcus were placed in the bottom two. While trying to hold back tears, Drew sang "Listen To Your Heart" by Roxette for her survival song. Marcus took on Gladys Knight's "Neither One of Us Wants to Be the First to Say Good-bye." Leaving the decision up to the judges, Paula and Nicole decided to keep Marcus in the competition once again. A very upset Simon Cowell, who is also Drew's mentor, blamed himself for the unfortunate position Drew was placed in. Although he voted to keep Drew in the competition, he was outnumbered and she was eliminated from the show. Simon told Drew's fans: "I think she's a little star and I think America knows she's going to be a star." Top 5 contestants include: -Rachel Crow -Melanie Amaro -Marcus Canty -Chris Rene -Josh Krajcik With just a few episodes left in the season, this week the contestants will perform two songs each in hopes of winning the coveted $5 million recording contract.
